Whenever I use my mechs, and I stop, the throttle will automatically go up, rendering it difficult to stay in position to aim and the like.

Help?

the options menu has a box called "throttle decay on/off"

Throttle decay on= gas pedal style. press it you go forward, stop pressing it, you don't.

throttel decay off= throttle position style. set your speed to where you want to go and leave it.

The former is the best option.

If your throttle is going up by itself I reckon you have something stuck under your W key.

Reset and redo your key bindings.

• Disconnect external controllers

Solve the problem in 90% of cases, you may also see a similar effect if you have a program running commands e.g. ppjoy, firecontrol, macros etc.

• Make sure throttle decay is on and your throttle is set to 0

Assuming the first didn't work.

• Disconnect all peripherals (inc. keyboard and mouse)

If it's still happening check for programs generating input, if it's stopped plug in everything one by one till the problem appears again so you can figure out which device it is.

Are you using any numpad keys for any reason?

These, including zero, are assigned to set specific values for your throttle.

By numpad I mean the keys to the right of the arrow keys.

Looks like I jumped to a conclusion on what the OP wrote, I saw a few of the words and my mouse brain registered the idea that this was about throttle decay.

If your default language in windows isn't English it's possible to change it while playing by some quick command and that causes turning/throttle being 100% even if no button is pushed, swapping back to original language instantly fixes that issue.

You really should not fix that. Leave it as is, it makes you a better player, better than at least 50% of the people playing.

Usually, when people have issues with the throttle it's because they have a joystick or gamepad connected to their computer that is accidentally providing input. If you do, just unplug them.

If you *want* an auto-run key for the initial part of a battle where you're running towards the enemy, there should be a button for 'set throttle to 100%', which I bound to 0 like old-school MechWarrior had. But, I never use this in battle, for obvious reasons.

I'm pretty sure they are bound from numbad0=100%, 9=90% and so on by default...

I use the Full Ahead command all the time in combat. It's actually very useful for mechs like the Locust that can accelerate faster than the W key increases your throttle level. I also use Full Stop.

Yep. This. Rebind full speed throttle to W, instead of the default "accelerate." With X as full stop, you can leave S as decelerate. This lets you accelerate as quickly as possible from zero, stop on a dime if you need to, and slow down to an intermediate velocity as required (such as circle fights to tighten your turning radius). This last bit is also a direct advantage over throttle decay, as T.D. is an all or nothing thing.

The best part about using Full Ahead with throttle decay disabled is that you can type in chat without stopping. It's the one thing I miss when using my Thrustmaster throttle for speed control, as MWO will kill your speed with a controller when you use chat.
