Lets take this logically.
Your team NASCARs, meaning they going to one side and making a circle.
The best way to keep up is NOT to follow them, but cut straight down the middle.
This way chances are you will meet the enemy at the same time, or at least be about the distance, for all that going around takes time no matter how much faster they are, meanwhile you cut all the bull by going down the middle.

It has nothing to do with finding good positions. There is no good position if your team is running in circles 24/7. Don't hamstring your team by refusing to recognize winning positions when you have them and just running off like a moron anyways.

Nascar usually starts because one team owns the middle and one team doesn't. The team that doesn't own the middle refuses to fight for it entirely and just cirlces around the edge. In that case, you can't cut across the middle because that's straight suicide. Eventually the team in the middle decides they want to play along too and they jump down and run in circles and everyone gets to be we todd did together.

Good teams adapt to the battlefield instead of blindly doing the same crap every time because thinking is hard.
In before this one time this thing happened so it works every time derp statement.

Was it the strategy of "turn left-shoot red bots" or was it all the other factors that secured a victory?
Or to put it very simply the "best" MWo team can win dispite NASCAR.
Let's actually break down how to "win" a NASCAR in MWo.
First you need to have sufficent firepower that moves quickly enough to catch the trailing portion of the enemy formation. While also remaining out of engagment range of the enemy team's leading mechs.
Next you need to have sufficent accuracy to actually hit the targets.
The next thing is sustaining the damage output while on the move so you need heat efficent builds.
and I suppose lastly you need to have pilots that know how to exstend the survival of their mechs under fire to weather returning fire while still producing damage output.
So in a solo queue situation where you do not choose your team mates or the mechs they pilot and any tier 1 is equal to any other tier 1 ...doesn't this mean the matchmaker has final word on what team has the better composition to win?

I see way too many assaults that sit in the DZ for > 15s after the match starts and then complain about nascar. If you aren't movign as soon as possible you are giving map control to the other team and it's your own fault for getting left behind if you don't start moving. Also, you can move and shoot at the same time. If you stop moving and then get left behind that's your own fault.

Thats the only time I ever get ****** over on slow mechs.
If you are constantly getting over rotated you need to build to be able to quickly kill 2 or 3 people as soon as you see them. Thats usually enough to win the game and keeps your KDR positive.

Everyone should know which maps are prone to Nascar. Play accordingly is my suggestion. Be ready just in case Nascar breaks out. Unless someone takes command or suggest a plan, be ready to Nascar. Certain drop points are not detrimental to the assaults any longer imo. A mistake made on their part is probably is what got them in trouble.
