And, if you find some new players you can drop with, so be it.... Nothing "dramatic" has changed as many above have said. Yes, there are nerf's and buff's all over the place but, the basic game is still there: for good or ill as you remember it.
I have limit myself to about 4 weeks a year though....... And, there are a lot of far more enjoyable games ! Slower paced games that make for some fun team adventures.........MWO had that once and couldn't keep it for many.....
Get bored, wander over to WoWs where there are a bunch of Ship captains from MWO....we should form a team (a clan) over there..... I couldn't convince the WoWs guys to play MWO though after they watched the xmas events live as we demo'd the game for them........too long a grind for a F2P....... Oh well, we tried. Good hunting.

Old republic is great if you have 3 other folks to play with and play the stories. They are quite good, and the RPG choice function with the group getting to pick unique responses is a total hoot on who wins out. that said, after you play the Stories, it's not much of a sandbox MMO. But hey for a game night with buds it's quite good. No need to grind gear, or spend time making money to get items.. you just play the story and enjoy. I wouldn't mind going back, but my buds moved on, so it wasn't much fun after that.

Playing to win is something that depends on the makeup of your team, plus the other team. 23 elements that you have no control over.
Plus, you don't actually 'win' anything, other than a sense of accomplishment and some additional XP/C-bills. There is no cash prize, no gold medal, no podium.
Since a sense of accomplishment is your primary reward, and the only thing you actually control in a match is your mech (and in some cases, calling info/strategy to the team), then you can pick a mech, think up something you want to achieve with it, or a build to try or whatever, and play the match just for that. Winning is nice, but if you achieved 'goal X' then that was your purpose for the match.
You can actually sharpen your overall game play by focusing on specific types of goal and practicing those until they become automatic (which many people do anyway).

Seriously, the current state of the game is not enjoyable. The queue time is only acceptable in prime time, and i mean QP, other game modes (FP, Solaris7) are even worse.
Game play wise, we have got RAC macro exploit remain unfixed (and most of the heavies/assaults i saw in Solaris used them), and we also got the epic cXL/LFE nerf, i almost make no use of LFE on IS mechs now....
Event wise......can be hit and miss (as usual), the giveaway in Christmas is quite good, the one just ended [All Systems Nominal] is dumb at best, it took almost 4 hours for a meh pilot like me to score the last solo kill for the reward.......
Not the worst experience for the MWO history, but IMHO the current state of MWO really lack the "WOW" factor to convince someone to return, TBH.

It was still the case yesterday, is it fixed after the maintenance today?
