I have used both pirhannas and fleas to facetank and kill up to 3-4 assault mechs in single combat in games. I am not talking about coring their rear torso, but face on stutterstep back and forth to kill. mgs are op, light leg hit boxes are infinitesimally smaller than their art, and all pulse lasers and the gauss have been nerfed with charge up and longer burn times to allow lights to equal assaults in a 1v1 match up, intentionally in my opinion. All mech turn times were nerfed with ONLY the reason to make lights win vs assaults reliably. Mostly because a certain dev liked pwning in an inferior Raven X5 IMHO. If they let the pirhanna into D1 right now in solaris it would rule. The guass nerf destroyed a lot of mechs such as anything carrying single gauss (especially the historically badazz Highlander, whos sole light defense was the arm mounted gauss), all you have to do in a light is just stutterstep in and out, which means that without a gauss rifle mech getting lucky on the charge up 19/20 times you shoot the bigger mech with immunity, even up to a medium due to currently ridiculously slow projectile velocities. When I see an atlas with a light, unless he has streaks and I don't have ecm, I can usually take him face on. NEVER was this how BattleTech/MW should ever match up lights and assaults. End of story. It is one of the worst in game changes PGI made and will continue to be till the lights shut off.

@ Variant 1.

Not this player, depending on Jenner Specs I aim for the arms now. De Weaponize them. So easy to take them out of the fight now.

Go facehug a Madcat MKII in your Piranha and see how that turns out.

Any decent Assault pilot. Skill on Skill most assaults win.

I'm not even particularly skilled, but lights, especially overly cocky Piranhas, that have tried to facetank my LBX + MRM Kraken or Cyclops or my 51-alpha LL + ML Awesome got sandblasted or melted unless I was already badly damaged / on cooldown from fighting his other teammates.

this is more an organization vs pug kind of thing. wolfpacks are extremely effective in this game. for one they cause utter chaos on the battlefield. everyone wants the same cookies and will shoot and block each other to get it, and the lights know it. way i see it if more than 2 people are needed to kill a squirrel and take several minutes to do it, then you all need to go back to gunnery school or at least equip some streaks, srms, lbs, pulse, or mrms, weapons that are really good at messing up a squirrel's nuts, then go for hip level (unless its like a raven or a jenner then aim for sts). thers also the problem with too many cooks ruin the chicken fried squirrel. you get 4 or 5 guys on a squirrel, everyone is shooting and putting more damage on the team than the enemy. people cant maneuver and its the exact kind of chaos that give light pilots a woody.

I'll just chuck my five cents in with; I have witnessed ArcherRuss get 2500+ damage in a Flea and 7 kills.
A good light pilot is unstoppable. You have to snapshot and cripple or kill on the first pass or your dead and that's if you even get to see it.

I think the best I ever got was in a KGC 2 years ago 11 kills and maybe 2300 damage.

That was 2 years ago, I'm just returning and finding it harder than before to the point of even finding it hard to just trade one kill and then die, for under 400 damage.
The skill system broke my builds but I'm getting used to it. One week back.

I've been a light pilot since closed beta. Tell me more about this new Raven x5. I find it that no such mech is in the game or on sarna there are:

RVN-4X

X-5 Medium

and

http://www.sarna.net.../Raven#Variants

All of which show no such raven 5x exists.
