Summoner is still more agile than most Clan heavies. Isn't it?

i was running one for the event and it was just terrible and this is a mech i used to do well with. ive unlocked much of the jj tree and it cant jump very well. its enough to poptart but if you need to get up on a moderately high ledge, lol.

That's not a Thor problem, that's a JJ problem. For what it's worth most other heavies are even worse at jumping than that.

Remember when you could Snip People at their spawn point from you spawn point on Forest Colony. Back when you could actually see on Forest colony.

Remember when...

1. LRM boating in an Awesome 8R or Atlas D-DC wasn't frowned upon, in fact the LRMpocalypse back then was hilarious.

2. The Jenner F was the king of lights.

3. You could run 8 Raven 3Ls with streaks in group queue (SQUAWK)

4. Ohmwrecker (youtuber / streamer) played Closed Beta with a Gausscat K2 and wrote up a helpful guide for newbies.

5. Mack (Mackscorner / Worth A Buy) enjoyed the game before the clan era and loved playing around with builds (most notable "Gankenstein" Stalker).

6. Trial mechs were stock mechs (the worst offender being the Atlas K with XL300).

7. PPCs had wonky hitreg (even though i never really got to experience this myself back then).

8. PPCs still did some damage within 90m, less damage the closer you were.

9. You could JJ in a Spider on top of the Frozen City cave and get free spots.

10. You started playing way back when and were filled with joy about playing a modern day Mechwarrior game.

Sync dropping LORDS

30 point pinpoint alpha was a lot

Jenners had a tiny movement profile

Old Forrest Tunnel fights

Spider Lag Shields

useless SRMs

players that communicated and intuitively pressed W

ECM was Jesus Box

Don't forget the Locust Swarms... I remember those being on the other team, 12 Locust dropped together it was craziness :)

Yeah the great JJ nerf is still probably the thing the PGI pissed me off the most with.

I remember when JJ's actually allowed you to jump, were so useful that I willingly spent 25% of my available tonnage to mount max jump jet on my mech and I even spent literally hours on the training map practicing jump tactics so I could use them effectively in combat. Now I hardly bother with them.

summoners problem wasn't just jjs. it lost a lot of maneuverability with skill trees and desync (though im not 100% sure if that affected omnis or not). we did get those st pods which helped a little with its limited firepower, but its supposed to be a mobile platform, not a firepower monster and it kind of de-emphasized its role. the new pods were just a buff to the wrong thing, and was enough so they could avoid buffing the right things.

I pine away for those long lost days of old.

When you had 2 or 3 invites to groups of friends and had to decide who to go with.

When there were multiple channels needed in teamspeak for all of the groups that were running.

It's truly sad that something so fun with so much promise became what it is today. The worst part is that nobody got fired for the crapshow that caused the mass exodus/s. Show us the head of the loser and promise to undo the wrongs. That might get some people back. I know it's a pipe dream but I really wish it could be like it was.

It wasn't about the mechs it was about all the people that played and the fun we had together. I would venture a guess at around 95% of those people don't play anymore.

Long lost are the days of old. Thanks for the memories.

I remember when I actually had a unit filled with scores of people that actually played the game. I remember when I had friends that played the game. As far as my circle of MWO friends and acquaintances go, I am quite literally the last man standing.

This thread is making me nostalgia so hard....particularly the old FoCo comments. I no longer hate the new one, as I finally have a PC that won't go down to 10 FPS in fog, but there was still something about the old one. Like the mad scramble at the start to avoid being head-shotted at the spawn :), and tunnel fights. I still remember a match where a Gauss Firestarter had himself hidden in the rocks on top of tunnel and was terrorizing my team because no one could get to him, and we were all so fascinated by the concept of a Gauss FS to begin with we gave him entirely too many free shots on us...

Remember when Caustic was the main map that you had to see Nascar on, and it was pretty much 100% guaranteed to occur, because there was hardly any map outside the crater?

When you could snipe with a raven 3l and were skilled enough to turn off ecm to move around since you knew the enemy would be looking for the low signal icon to give them a clue.

Jenners wolf packs.

guass had no charge mechanic.

Lrm users were welcome and knew how to do proper second fire line support.

Commando's speed literately broke the game.

You could fire two is erppcs without giant heat spikes on your K2.

Oh yeah. Dropping with tier 5 randoms and "fighting" against a 228 twelve man in faction warfare to make enough C-bills to buy your second out of three mechs so you could start leveling it.

If any of you young whippersnappers think things are bad now...
