Remember the first time you spectated that Clan Dire Wolf and saw the weapons list box go half way up the right side of your screen? I was amazed, most of the mechs I had at the time were max 4 weapons if not less. Just something that came to mind when I was trying think of fond memories of MWO past.

yep I remember it well
I had started dropping in June 2014

I was also crazy enough to ask if Clan Mechs where more powerful and I was told no they where not
me and my puny Jager with 2 weapons
then you die and this whatever Clan Mech has a weapons display that I cant believe
the next question was how do I get one of those TW's

I cant seem to find them in game

yep the good old days

Predator Vision Heat view- I still like that over the current implementation... I've hated the black/white heat view since it was introduced.

Inverse kinmatics: Want mechs to react properly to terrain... well it USED to happen, until they removed it.

High Quality Textures: While the game still looks good, looking back at closed beta images, the game just looked, better, effects looked better, textures looked better, hell even some of the maps looked better. I still remember back in the old days where weapons fire on a mech would peel back armor to expose inner structure, something that seems to be making a return in MW5 at least.

Missile Flight Patterns: They've changed several times, I still prefer the old corkscrew LRM's from closed beta.

Repair and Rearm: Now I know this is a contentious feature. And was removed from Quick Play for good reason... but I feel the game should have it in the FP mode... make that mode the real "hardcore" mode [while we're at it, give that mode seperate mech bays and mechs, include salvage rights and the like as part of the game mode]

3025 era tech only- Early in the Closed Beta, we had only base level tier 1 technology. No ER weapons, no Ultra AC's, no Gauss, no pulse weapons... just good old vanilla lasers, lrm's, srm's, and AC's.

1. Days when the Worst mech a light had to face was a Hunchback 4G, because it could run faster than a Jenner.

2. The LRM's in flight, just looked awesome

3, Jump Jets that actually got you off the ground

4. Medium Laser's that are viable on lights

5. Knockdown's believe it or not. (Heavies would chase the lights trying to knock them down only to die to the lights team during the chase.

when... "balance," according to PGI, meant all mechs down to the variant level were supposed to have a role to play.

when... FP was CW and had multiple fronts, and factions, and nerd politics, and hadn't yet been ruined by unit fees, Long Tom, and PGI's admitted disregard.

when... we could get multiple 12-mans running on a week night.

Good times.

So sad, isn't it..... But, as the saying goes: You reap what you sow.............and, them Chickens came home to roost !!

Sad, because MWO has one of the most identifiable IP's in the market today !!! And, that's not hyperbole,,,,,they really do have some valuable "stuff".............and, no idea what to do with it. Sigh...........

Remember when solo and group weren't separate queues.

Remember when you had to quickly type in the chat box while fighting in order to communicate.

Remember when going water/ice tunnel was a legitimate strategy.

When the Atlas DDC was the single most popular mech in the game. Every game had at least 1 Steiner scout lance.

The trial Dire Wolf with dual Gauss. That was my go-to mech when my CTF-4X started to physically hurt.

This was some dark age between the 4X being OP and OK like now.

yeah knockdowns sure where fun, your teamates running into you and stun locking you. Or in a 2v1 where one enemy stun locks the player while the other gets free shots. Knockdown was terrible and thank kerensky it was removed. Too many people with rose tinted glasses want a terrible mechanic back

Summoner is still more agile than most Clan heavies. Isn't it?

I used the Summoner for the first time in the Invasion event, and it felt so much more mobile than the Timber Wolf in every way.

Hey, Summoner needs something. 2 Peeps aint that much anymore and there are mediums with more pod space AND access to more hardpoints in a single arm than the Summoner has across multiple pods.
