It's not what you think, I don't have beef with lights.

That being said, I recently had a match where a certain deadly-hammer-strikee -- a MPL Grinner shamed me for blocking him, in which I don't know what the **** happened.

I don't think it's me blocking him either. He did mentioned that "he should have legged me". He is THAT salty.

He's a mobile light, if i am behind him, is it really worth turning towards me, and taking the time to leg me? I'm fresh that time, he's in an MPL Grinner, that would take several volleys.

I think i was in front the entire time when I was brawling, blocking his shots. It's something you would expect when someone is brawling with others.

Well first off, we were on the top of Viridian Bog and we were side-peeking, I'm an 8-SRM6 Pakhet, my build without artemis, is designed to be used up in their faces. I was first, but him, with lasers, shot first and announced our presence.

Anyways, Blitzkrieg, we just smashed our way in, killed a 2x LRM20 + 2x LL Stalker, and a 2x C-AC5 + 2x C-AC-10 + LAMS Mad-Cat (yes, it wasn't UAC or LBX), I turned around and fired upon the Streak-Revenant (without killing it), I went down the slope and brawled with a Nova-Cat and an unwitting Jagermech.

We then circled our way back, and killed the streak dog, and I was there face to face with him, literally blocking each other's movements. After which we just chased this DK with 4x ML.

Just 2 left, and it was quite an uneventful epilogue, this certain guy called me out.

I scored about 1000 damage and 1 kills, he died and he did only 550 damage, and zero kills. I looked him up at the leaderboards, and he does have high KDA and WLR, perhaps he's angry about the Zero-Kills but 1 death?

**** man, people get bad games time to time, and places do get congested. I'm a brawl-Pakhet, the hell do you expect?

maybe you did BLOCK him from moving back to cover at some point dunno without video or he telling what he really meant.

Happens too often that you are poking around some corner and then you realize you cannot move back to cover after your shot and some "friendly" Atlas is parked behind you.

Well, I don't really know what I did.

I just rushed the enemy team, grabbing the opportunity since these two assaults weren't moving. I didn't even see him after his first wub on some Madcat's back.

I don't even know how I would block his retreat when I was literally the one in front taking the brunt of enemy fire.

The only "block" i could fathom is me being in the way of their fire, because I was literally up in the face of the enemy.

Probably you accidently tailblocked him when he was poking some angry heavy/assault twice(or more) in a row, thus he got much moar damage than he was expected. With same chance it could be his own fault, without video its hard to say whos wrong.

So basically you blocked a high skill player, he died, he got annoyed. And somehow all of this means you had to start a forum thread about it waffling on about it and attach a screenshot of your damage for no apparent reason?

Yawn.

Actually, I was just with him the early game so whatever blocking must've happened there. We were at the top of the hill, there were two witless assaults, namely a Stalker with 2x LL + 2x LRM20, and that Mad-Cat with CACs.

He managed to pull 550 damage anyways, so I am sure he did fine after the supposed blocking, so whatever I did, getting him killed isn't one of it.

My take on it is that, i'm just being the scapegoat.

He did mentioned that "he should have legged me". He's a mobile light, if i am behind him, is it really worth turning towards me, and taking the time to leg me? I'm fresh that time, he's in an MPL Grinner, that would take several volleys.

Oh I know who he means, yes, he's been salty a lot tonight. Kept demanding people ONLY go killing on grim conquest... i raised the point at the end of the match, that its POSSIBLE to do both if you know how. I was 3 kills, 490ish damage and had capped 3 points. The match was a 12:3 stop in our favour. Mr D&D weapon struck to solid item was if I remember right 4 kills, 600ish, and no caps gone to. In the end it nearly came down to the pts win when some other player in an assault killed the stealth commando I had found first and was giving calls on voip to which way he was going - turning...

If I'm playing a light mech it is always are fault for doing something, I can not tell you how many times I have been threatened with a good legging for doing something I am suppose to be doing in the first place. The problem is most folks have no idea how to play this game.

Here is the thing. Your in a big lumbering assault mech or whatever. Your following behind a light mech who is clipping along in front of you. All of a sudden he sees something he doesn't like and starts back-peddling as fast as he can. The Assault may even see this occurring but he was expecting the light mech to continue moving forward so he has to identify that the light is back-peddling, reverse his throttle, overcome the forward momentum of his mech and slowly reverse back to give the light mech room to retreat. Well that isn't fast enough for the last mech so all of a sudden he is shouting, "Don't Block me in!!!".

Hell about 4 nights ago I was following a light mech up the ramp on HPG. Since he was on the right side the ramp, I started up the left side. Suddenly near the top he moved diagonally directly in front of my mech and started getting lit up like a Christmas tree. Predictably he started back-peddling directly into my Assault moving full speed forward trying to engage the enemy coming up the ramp on the far side. Equally predictably came the squeal, "Don't Block me In!!!!"

Here is the truth. Light mechs are faster, more agile and have a much greater ability to change momentum and direction than any other mech in the game. If your piloting a light it is YOUR responsibility to stay out from under the feet of your teams, heavier, more cumbersome mechs. If your heading up the ramp, keep it firmly fixed in your mind that your teammates are on your heals and your retreat is going to be cut off, don't blame the mechs behind you. If your going to be operating under the feet of your teams heavier mechs, be mindful of their location and stay out of their way. Equally be mindful of your escape paths and realize in such close confines your not going to be able to back-peddle out of a bad situation. This is all on you as a light mech pilot. It is not the fault of the other, heavier mechs if you keep putting yourself in situations that they all but helpless to control, like trying to back up fast enough to allow a light mech caught out in a bad position to retreat and survive. It is your job to support the heavier mech, not vice versa.

I was in a timber wolf the other night during the invasion event and while closing with a target i was on the verge of killing after doing all the work to strip his armor... had a summoner JUMP over me and land in front of me blocking my shot to try and steal the killing blow and when i tried to step around he shifted over to block my shot a second time. So I shot the 24 srms anyway... 5 damage to him killed him and the rest went thru him to kill the enemy mech.

That's why I wish PGI would ditch the K/D Ratio and display the Solo Kill and KMDD stats instead

I always thought “blocking” meant preventing someone from reversing back behind cover. And yes, it’s happened enough that I will leg or worse for doing that to a teammate.

And here I was, thinking this was a team game, not just "protect the fatties!"

Why not both? It's all good data.

Here is the actual truth;

Look at your ******* mini map. Don't stand behind someone who is poking regardless of class. Don't follow less than 100 meters behind anyone who is getting ready to expose or poke.

Because you can do all the work on a mech and then I come around and hit him with a small laser and boom I got the kill shot and you do not get any credit, even the C-Bill and XP is horrid. At least with KMDD we can a better picture of skill. To many people think their High K/D represents skill, and its simply not true. I would love to be able to separate via KMDD and Solo

Well duh - a lot of lights, their role is scouting. So if they are about to, or going near, a corner - dont jam your assault up behind them. That is basic common sense.

So one hand you're telling them to support, and scouting/checking corners is a thing... And on the other hand you're not allowing them to do it by jamming it up in their butt.
