I was against map/mode Voting bcs for me it means i neither get the Maps i want to play as often as in random mode nor do i have the ability anymore to switch to a mode that at that time most often gave more me fun than every other mode.
Effectively it reduced my Motivation to play instead of increasing it.

No... because this allows you to build specifically for some maps over others... that should never happen...
as a mechwarrior you're not going to know where you fight, until you end up on the field of battle.

Map voting in itself is not bad. It's really good. The problem is how it rotates and how people keep voting for one and the same over and over again like it's the only thing in the game.
So... either rework the least votes maps, or make it so the more a map is voted for, the less it will appear in the voting rotation so that other maps get the chance too.
And for the love of god, some maps that are great are barely voted for because of their stupidly stupid large size where it takes 2 minutes to just start a fight, not because people are positioning, BUT BECAUSE IT TAKES THAT LONG TO GET INTO FIRING RANGE OF ANYTHING so people avoid voting for such maps.
PGI, plase, for the love of god do something about map rotations.
PGI doesn't really follow the player feedback on the forums, so if anyone has a Twitter and agrees with me, please send this thread their way.
It's borderline tiresome.
So this the deal. Originally all maps were genrated randomly...the 5 People who posted on the forums raged, stating they will quit, the game will die, blah blah blah blah... if they didn't get to vote for maps. This is the end result.

The other issue is one of the biggest issues I find with MWO is the lack of map diversity. We just don't have nearly enough maps especially considering the age of this game. There should be like 10-15 more, hell maps are what PGI should be focusing on simply because new maps means the game remains fresh and fun even when nothing else works right. However voting just make the map pool even smaller because we so rarely get anything but HPG, Canyon Network, Tormeline Desert or Grim Plexis whenever any one of those maps shows up in the selection. The ONLY time we get variation is when we get the occasional pick where those 4 aren't part of the choices.

Back then there was no penalty for dropping out of a match, now there is. So less people would drop out on maps than back then. Honestly tho I don't remember that many people refusing to play Terra Therma and DC'ing on purpose.

I love nothing more than bringing the hottest laserboat I can (98% heat in a single alpha) and dropping a big multi on Terra or other hot maps and still top the entire scoreboard running the most NON-META choice for said map/multi.
But you know - everyone is some uber META tryhard and that somehow governs the map choice

Given the sheer amount of non-META builds I see every single game, that's a tinfoil hat argument of the highest order.
And to these people saying you get Mining 4 times in a row - rejoice, you now have a 4x multi and can put that towards changing it up next game.
If not you have a 5x, then a 6x etc.
I really don't care what map so I love stacking a huge multi then dropping it on a map people hate.

It's better to have repetitive game, than terrible one. You know. There are several indicators, that next match will go wrong, before it's even started. One of them - voting for bad map, when better is available. And it isn't bias. Sometimes I really try to do my best in such situation, but match is 100% stomp anyway. It's just result of this stupid "I'm bored, let's try something different" or "I'm hardcore masochist - let's suffer all toghether" mentality.
So, remember this. I call maps bad not because it's my subjective opinion. It's result of having hundreds of matches experience. I.e. yeah, some matches can be good, some can be bad. But when you have never had a good match on certain map - then it's simply bad map. As simple, as that. And it just can't be subjective, as this game is teamwork-based and one player can neither win a match, nor lose it.
That's why it's good, that PGI stopped to push their "Force least popular maps" system, as it was really terrible and forced "Best of the worst" maps on players. Now at least we can get Canyon and HPG from time to time.

Ironic. Your are the very thing you comparing about

Let's face it, there's pros and cons to both sides and with the number of maps in rotation, there's little chance to get actual diversity going no matter how the map is chosen.
