I think if the structure quirks were changed to armor quirks, it would be a much better mech, but you would still likely be best using it as a ranged skirmisher or squirrel.

Structure quirks on the torso sections can actually be helpful sometimes because they give you more life insurance against teammates shooting you in the back and since the mech can twist so far you might end up taking a few hits in the back unintentionally. The legs and arms are always better with armor than structure though.

So, what's wrong with the cicada? The 3m has a laundry list of great quirks, Its all sorts of fast, ECM, the arm flaps are good shields, and the weapon selection is pretty great. I've been rolling 4 er meds with U/AC 5 and having a blast harassing the enemy.

I tried the stormcrow. I'm not very impressed. The speed is great, but its acceleration/deceleration values are too low. And talk about quirks. Uh...Where are they? That said, I enjoy the mech. I just think it has too many flaws to be good.

Cicada's biggest problem is its a giant light, with giant legs - still pretty common, and I have a CDA-3F I like to stuff full of jump jets (to the max) is skilled for jump jetting, and mounts a colossal 340XL. Its basically the IS version of the viper, hella fun but you have to work extra hard to do more than annoy people.

Those are all funny ways of spelling Stormcrow.

That omni can do it all except jump, and has great armor protection mixed with a great grounyoumans. You can get around easily, hit very hard, and get out quickly. It can outmatch opponents much heavier.

The Stormcrow really is a very underrated medium currently especially considering that for the better part of probably 2-3 years it was the best medium mech in the game. It may or may not be the best any more but it is still way up at the top despite how rare it is any more. The only issue it ever had was the cockpit low in the mech which made it a bit weaker at hill peaking but its hitboxes were and still are some of the best in the game and the weapons are all cockpit level so if you can see it you can shoot it. Additionally it has about the prefect blend of mobility, speed and firepower. No JJs though but other than this it is still very near the top for a clan medium and honestly for medium mechs in general.

I don't think the Bushwacker is 'the' best anymore. It can be very good but the loss of the armour quirks and not accordingly adjusting the relatively low mobility (for an IS unit) demoted it a bit.
Assassin is still a top Mech if the map allows any kind of SRM-play, the Crab is a very good laser vomit unit, and the Vulcan 5T is an underrated Mech.

Clan Mechs... I don't think any of them qualifies, except perhaps the Vapor Eagle but I have not played it myself so my judgement is flawed atm. I will try it out though as soon as it becomes available for C-Bills.

Honestly I still think the Bushwacker is the best IS medium. It's hit boxes as second to none making it about the hardest medium mech to kill bar none.

I cut back the engines a good bit for extra firepower and rely on range to keep out of too much trouble. RAC 5 and 4 mediums, or a UAC 5 and 4 er mediums. That's enough to do more then annoy the enemy. I run the UAC mostly. Its a nice mix of alpha and sustain. Decent poke damage, but if they aren't looking I can keep blasting away.

The Vapor Eagle made the Stormcrow completely superfluous. The only thing the Scrow can do better is laser vom, honestly.

That, and surviving a fight after somebody notices it.

The Cicada can be a fun little troll mech that can do okay in mid to long range fights (I use 4 ERML + UAC/2 or RAC/2 on the ECM variant). Not really "meta" material though.

I really wish the 3C variant's ERPPC specific quirks were changed to generic PPC, then that thing would be insane with a Heavy PPC...

Not meta or carry mech, but 3C is kinda fun with that single lightning bolt ERPPC and quad LMGs

it was the best because no other human shaped high hardpoint mediums existed to that point and clan and is tech were pretty far part from each other. with the new wepaons we have now peek a boo of better choices happened. It's still not a bad mech, but others can outperform it now.

Your thinking the 3M , I use a 3F - the jump jetting cicada, it only has 4 energy hardpoints and no ballistics.

Bushwacker 3 rac2s, trebuchet 7m 2 mrm30, Uziel 6p 6 medium pulse laser. Last one needs you to be a good pilot, but if you can manage jump jets. aim and the tremendous mobility the mech has you will rock.

I'm telling you all, the Vulcan is a beast. The Bloodlust is right on par with the Assassin-21 and the 5T is flat out godly. The agility is incredible. Apart from deceleration, it's got better agility stats than most Lights and is on par with the Flea(!). The 5T isn't as fast or armored as the Wolfhound, but it's got better agility, jumpjets, and carries more DHS. It's so hard to kill even with an XL. I'm just in love with this thing. If you haven't bought a 5T for cbills, do it now, don't even think twice.

VULCAN VL-5T 114 74 40 1.85 230 51 4.51 66,676 261,562 11:48:03

BLOODLUST 16 11 5 2.20 29 8 3.63 8,548 35,038 01:30:48

yep, the vulcan 5T is incredible. it became a new favorite of mine after my very first match in it.

So I'm doing the 5T wrong with a UAC10 and 4 ML?

i'd recommend the cicada 3M if you haven't already tried it. it has pretty amazing quirks for that exact build.

Clearly the answer to best medium is the urbie (yes I know it's technically a light, but it's a medium+ in how it plays)

I actually have two 5Ts now. The first runs an XL300 and full speed tweak (goes to 130kph), the other runs XL280 with full armor/structure skills and an extra DHS. Both are great.

Depend on what you like, I go hunting assaults in a WVR-6R with 3 srm4/1 UAC-10 or a ENF-4P with 3 ML/1 UAC-20
