New Maps Coming Back? Makes Me Wonder..

did they make some new tools that speeds up the process? With the old maps coming back, and a snow covered canyon coming, perhaps that is the case. Maybe they can copy makes, make changes and publish the new maps with minor changes in a much easier way now. Meaning it would take the map makers far less time to make tweaks to existing maps for a different feel.
The prime example is the new Snowy Canyon coming.
So with that in mind, what would you like to see as a second copy of a map that would play different?
The first thing i could think of would be a Forested frozen. AkA melt the ice, and add trees.. sorta a pre-disaster map.
A rainy caustic could be kinda cool, sort of a steamy world of sulfur, maybe water pooling, and rivers/streams popping up in some of the crags.
And seeing they are bringing back the old versions, Please bring back old terra as Conquest/skirmish only! Please no Dom, old terra DOm was a PUG nightmare!

"new maps" and "coming back" to them

only Marty McFly and Doc Brown can do that

From CW development, to loot boxes; from various assertions of balance to IK will be returning; from no third person view to MWO development would not be reduced for MW5's; the history of these people making a statement that is immediately or later proved to be utterly false is pretty apparent. Thus, there is zero reason to assume that they were being truthful about something that they once said to be impractical to impossible but is now, in this era of minimal MWO effort, suddenly not so.

Here's why:
1) The maps were removed for a reason - they are too small for 12:vs12, some even for 8vs8 (which doesn't exist in game)
2) Snow canyon is just a re-skin of current canyon, not a new map, as far as i know.. so yaaaay, they replace some textures - huge progress, much new... not.
3) Bringing back old maps instead of making new maps with existing resources (textures, buildings, etc. ) shows a clear development decision - max dev resources for MW5, and only skeleton maintenance crew for MWO, which means we can't expect anything significant and new to happen in this game for a very very long time..
4) Returning old maps is a quick-and-easy way to cater to the vocal minority that enjoyed face-smashing in close quarters. The size of the maps will inevitably affect the meta to switch to instant-action high alpha builds - which will take a significant portion of the fun out of the game. Stomps will become more common, and this will, once again, make players bleed from the game..
What SHOULD be done instead:
1) Make NEW maps with existing resources.
2) Bring back old original maps - for scouting 4vs4 only.
3) Use old maps to make new maps, by stitching compatible maps together (Like frozen city and alpine peaks, Frozen city and Forrest colony cold, River city and Crimson Strait, Crimson strait and Canyon Network, Crimson strait and Forest colony and such)
That would bring a bit more quality and freshness to the game, no?

All this stuff is just bread and circuses by this point- except the bread has a blue fuzz in it and the circus is more like "morning stretching class down at the old folks' home"

Domination circle being in different spots can also add more replayability to the already existing maps.

Well we can't have all maps catering to the lrm meta a brawl map will be nice, besides I seriously doubt anything can physically be done at this point to make stomps more common
Cmon get real, they're not going to make any new maps at this point or anything that will require any serious effort

Also the reality is that bringing back the old maps is just a bandaid because what we need are new maps and not these overtunned, over designed maps that channel everyone to the same place or place a big object in the center everyone has to run around. I mean I would love just a plain jane, square grid city map or just a forest map with rock formations, large trees and some small ridges and hills scatter about here and there, basically maps without dominating terrain features, choke points or funnels where people can range and fight all over the map.

LRM meta?
Sorry, but there are only 2 maps in the game where this is even remotely a thing.. The rest, a LRM boat has to "manage", and on 4-5 maps, LRM user has to be top-notch to get more than 500 damage..
So yeah.. sorry, but no..
I do agree that it is doubtful that new maps will happen any time soon.. it should, but I don't think it will knowing PGI's track record..
It makes me sad..

This is ********. Most of the maps in this game are auto-aim friendly.

Getting 500 damage in a lrmboat on maps that aren't polar doesn't require being anywhere near "top notch" lul
