Hey guys,

Been away for awhile. It seems gameplay has drastically changed ? Everybody shooting lrms till out of ammo, then the close fight starts. Which is useless by then because the party with the most lrm kills/dmg win anyway. Am I missing something ??

I haven't seen this recently?

All we do is fight on maps that are about useless to LRM's? It's been HPG, Mining, Solaris City, HPG, Solaris City, HPG, Mining all day and night long?

What maps were you playing; and, do you have installed AMS/Radar Dep or ECM??

LRMs make it easy to farm damage during the event.

IMO: Most Lurmers had complaints up till now because the game meta was short-mid range, the enemy closed the distance and stayed out of LRMs effective range. Now, Nascar has made it easier for a Lurm boat to find a spot to park it's but and rain LRMs from behind a hill as both teams play ring around the rosie.

I'll give one Lurmer credit: got hit by LRMs while under the dish on HPG Manifold. How the hell they figured out that angle?

If they are just under the roof they can be hittable with TAG and LRMs from below....better tracking strength for your LRMs.

My games usually are pokes, sometimes brawls, rarely dumb LRM matches.

That being said, there is this PTS of LRM changes that introduce reworking the LRMs to have lower arc and tighter spread when used with LOS, likewise dumb (and I dare say exaggerated velocity) buffs, like LRMs reaching 210 velocity and ATMs at 242 velocity, all of which may result in a new LRMageddon or something within the concept.

Weird, I do not see undue amounts of Lurms in the field, at the moment. Every time I do, the only Mechs I will play either have 2+ AMS or ECM.

I do so like to Troll lurmers. I built a Crab 27 with 1100 ammo for that, among other things.

Yes, there are tons of LRMers spamming away forcing other players to play Mech Hider Online.

But PGI hasn't noticed because PGI don't play MWO, they just play spreadsheets.

I mostly play ECM Mechs in QP now to make myself a less frequent target for the LRM spam.

Yes, I play fast, light mechs and I have noticed the "Incoming MIssile" Alert popping up much more, as well as getting hit much more frequently. If they recently changed the game to boost LRM performance, then I need to unlearn some old techniques and create some new ones. If you have suggestions, let me know.
I like a simple, fast build and prefer not to use AMS because I'd rather have firepower. I play a Commando a lot.
Also, what does ATM stand for?

Advanced Tactical Missiles
They're Clan missiles that deal different damage at different ranges. More damage closer in.
But since MWO lacks ammo switching, something ATMs are supposed to have; they're not quite as good as they could (and should) be. But they still aren't bad either.

I remember a time when we used to use role warfare as an active counter play to LRM boats.

A light mech pilot had a job it was counter the enemy LRMs. Now this was before we had ECM/AMS/Radar Dep. and lights capable of erasing 100 ton assaults is seconds.

In theory the light mech counter LRM game should be stronger than in the days of Jenners vs Catapults.

I love to lurm

I love to lurm
Loud and long and clear
I love to lurm
It's getting worse every year

The more I lurm, the more I fill with glee
And the more the glee
The more I'm a merrier me, it's embarrassing
The more I'm a merrier me

Some people laugh through their noses
Sounding something like this, dreadful
Some people laugh through their teeth goodness sake
Hissing and fizzing like snakes
Not at all attractive to my way of thinking

Some laugh too fast
Some only blast
Others, they twitter like birds
You know you're as bad as he is

Then there's the kind
What can't make up their mind

When things strike me as funny
I can't hide it inside
And squeak as the squeakelers do
I've got to let go with a ho ho ho
And a ha ha ha too

We love to lurm
Loud and long and clear
We love to lurm
So everybody can hear

The more you lurm
The more you fill with glee
And the more the glee
The more we're a merrier we

YOU DID 849 DAMAGE YOU LURM FIEND
