Also what's with the 8D variant having 40% more armor? Just for lulz?

Wait a god damn minute. Why is the DV-Mr, a 3073 variant, in there?

You've gotta be kidding me. I think the Dervish was one of the worst, laziest designs ever in classic BT. Its boring aesthetics complement its boring loadouts. I mean look at the thing:

Even the equally generic Trebuchet was picked as a more appealing visual and gameplay design in MWO's early days.

Anyway, I think Alex improved the Dervish's looks quite a bit. Especially the head.

FWIW, I did not say Alex's Dervish isn't better -- I think overall it is. But I stand by my opinion that the old BT Dervish is one of the better designs among the generally miserable roster of non-unseen BT designs.

(though the image you linked is an especially sad one -- I always did like the miniature, again compared to the stuff BT normally had)

Definitely like the visual appearance. The concept art in my opinion wins heavily over the technical line drawings from the TROs.
Dervish has 8 weapon hard points on all variants so it does outgun the other mechs in it's spot.
I'm viewing it as the missile counterpart to the Enforcer.

Nothing special, Marauder II has Dark Age variant MAD-6S and some other mechs has their Jihad\Dark Age variants too sometimes.
I think main rule is chassis introduction date must fit timeline and variants must be fitted with technology already existing in MWO.

Besides what Fed0t said; field alterations would likely occur in unites with greater funding any facilities for greater changes. Those changes then might get passed back to the manufacture and they end up building it that way if there is a market for it.

Im really looking forward to this one. Will probably buy all of them. I been wanted one of these ever since I saw it on Sarna. Simple and to the point, exactly what I want.

I wonder how the tube count will be rendered. The LRM10 takes up half of the visual space in the bay. A LRM20 could be split 5/10/5 from top to bottom but how would the 2M per torso variants work? Perhaps a tube count of 20 for the 1M per torso variant and tube counts of 15 and 5 for the 2M per torso versions with the larger launcher taking the higher mount?

Overall I would say its not a bad design and I would give it a thumbs up.

Note Alex's stealth shift in leg design from plantigrade to digitigrade or unguligrade design.

Looking at the variants again makes me wish PGI would have dropped the 3 variant mech pack. I would probably buy the DV-6MR variant if it was sold by itself for $7.00 just for the early access to the mech. Of course it is in the reinforcement pack as well so even if I caved I would have to spend $35 to get just the one variant I want <sigh>.

Honestly even I feel that we already have the Griffin, Shadow Hawk, Wolverine, and Kintaro. We also have the Trebuchet, a direct competitor, and the Hellspawn, a 'mech designed to replace the Dervish.

But I was probably added in for MWV and HBS Battletech as everyone keeps saying. And while it's a bit surreal since there's never been a Dervish in any Mechwarrior game, I'm glad I've been finally let out of the box.

I said I wouldn't play MWO again until they released the Dervish. I thought that was a safe bet since it appeared to not be a high priority.

Nuts.

Yeah, but the Hellspawn is a crumbling pile of shite.

I've wanted this mech in the game since I first booted up the installer. So insta-buy for me. Out of the 3025 mechs, only the Clint still has my love.

Maybe if PGI did a Wasp/Stinger/Valkyrie three-in-one pack . . .

I'm a guy who likes having exclusively arm mounted weapons on some of my mechs. The dervish with 4 arm mounted missile hardpoints is going to be the only IS jump-capable mech with more than 2 missile hardpoints in the arms and with Lower Arm Actuators. Basic pack is a Solid buy for me.

The mech was supposed to be a dull, uninspired 'steady' design
