This might come as a surprise to you Vixen; but that is what I call a "deal with it" solution. It completely ignores the original problem. It solves the problem by pretty much ignoring it. Making your mech fast doesn't help slow mechs, does it?

And if we're excluding slow mechs from the game, that's a potential playstyle that's completely excluded. People want variety, so why not at least give it an honest shot to accommodate it? Before writing it off completely without a chance that is.

So... what if, we modified the drop locations to favor slower mechs; especially on maps prone to nascar? Imagine the slower mechs being dropped close to the center, and faster mechs being dropped farther away. Mechs below 60KPH will enter the battle faster and the Nascar will take longer to form. That's a good opportunity to get some performance out of a lumbering hulk.

How about it?
That is off-topic the topic is about penalizing nascaring not about slow mechs or anything else....

... But slow mechs ARE the problem with NASCAR

Or rather the team abandoning the biggest firepower carriers.

Then perhaps there should be a penalty for loosing an assault mech.... instead of a penalty for nascaring.

The answer to the problem is much more simple:
Take command and lead your team!

As soon as you do, and people will recognize You don't command ******, they will follow.

Lack of communication and lack of listening to it are where the problem is. There was a time I used to try and call every battle I was part of and won more battles for it but I stopped cause it was a chore to do. Even with out trying to call battles I don't lose more than 3 in row very often and I'm not that good of a player.

We have to be practical, there is no way they could do anything about nascar.

My suggestion IS about nascar and it does penalize nascar, but in a different way. What I am saying is relevant to the topic. And I am not all that keen on answering pedantics that you might bring up on the matter.

Nascar is about opportunities and sacrifices

Given the choice:
Do I save one mech but miss the chance to kill two or three enemies
Or
Do I kill two or three enemies and sacrifice one team mate, I mean its virtual he wont really get hurt cept buthurt

FTW rioght?

I thought Nascar was more "let see if we can kill two or three of their assaults before they kill two or three of ours"? I mean, if you do and keep moving, the nascar becomes worth the sacrifice. If, on the other hand, the enemy beats you to killing those slow mechs, it's a death race.

I personally prefer counter nascar. Set up a firing line and wait for them to trickle into your guns.

In a Nascar, if I happen to be the slowest mech on my team being left behind, I'll just realize what's happening, turn around, and hit override. Ready to engage and slow the enemy's fast elements as much as I can and try to take one of them out with me... If it's a Solo QP match, it's the best you can do. If it's GP, you might be able to convince your team to make a quick firing line, which can save your mech if not the match...

I have witnessed 'Anti Nascar' team movement to be far more successful than conventional counter-clockwise movement.
I think this is because many players expect to engage the opposing team in a certain area, and can be surprised by heavy mechs at their flank.
Of course this is situational, and depends on the map and the makeup of the team.
To the original poster, I understand your frustration and agree, in concept, about your problem with 'Nascaring', but have to disagree with a penalty for doing so - If only because every player has their own play style.
Peace, Mechwarriors.

I disagree in that most anti nascar clock wise movements have failed against counter clock wise nascar movements in my experience.

I mean people are whining about NASCAR not OZCAR.

With MM how it is getting a random team to form a firing line has more chance of failing than succeeding, doh some times you just get lucky.

And to say "Anti Nascar' team movement to be far more successful than conventional counter-clockwise movement" is false.IMO

There is already a penalty for one side to "nascar" and that starts with the side where the assaults in Lance Charlie spawns on the far right instead of the middle/far left.
