I blame society pandering to ADHD riddled kids who slurp down energy drinks and except instant gratification... I mean, we have a generation of kids who invented the practice of... sock-pooping... because they can't spend 5 minutes away from a screen taking care of their bodily functions (and the one's who do are inevitably on their phones while passing).

As someone who has ADHD and manages it with extreme effort and as little medication as I can, it is incredibly tiring when people who don't know the first thing about the condition involve me when they need to go yelling at clouds. Pick a new scapegoat, your generation was affected as well, it's just that yours never got diagnosed.

Watching loading screen or timer run to 0 isn't playing....

The game is running and looking for/loading a match. That's part of the game. Loading screens have been a thing in gaming for a long time now.

Again, no patience.

Again no storytelling, outdated tips, no relevant information to receive, no active doing = not playing.
And if a circle animation or number running down gets you excited, good for you. For me and many others it's waste of time and pointless to watch.
and sure loading screen have been a thing for a long time, so what? Are you still living in a cave and hunting with atlatl? Those used to be the thing for a long time, way longer than computers or loading screens have existed.

Or you are making a food and it has to be in oven for 2 hours, do you put that thing into oven and stay there staring at it for two hours, I mean cooking is part of making food... I bet you do.

Nothing to do with patience, everything to do with pointless and waste of time.

Dota 2 has a loud BONGGGGGGGGGG sound when a match gets successfully put together. All players are also required to press an "accept" button before the match proceeds. The sound cuts through all audio whether you're alt tabbed or not.

That would be nice... maybe one of those when match found (specially for CW) and another 10-20 seconds before drop starts

Yah and after voting and loading you still have 30-60 seconds time and it seams lots of people alt-tab out and when someone with voip calls people to wake up they move. So an automatic sound would be helpfull.

How about you spend those 30-60 seconds studying your team composition and discussing tactics for the match instead of doing kitty gifs?

The drawback of that system us that it's open to griefing. All it takes is for one player to not click the accept button to kick the remaining 23 players back to the matchmaker. It works for dota 2 because of the huge playerbase but that might not be possible to implement in mwo without some form of tweaking.

Something worth considering if pgi is interested in making something like that.

I would like to have just sound notifications without that accept button.

anyway, A sound, ANY sound, would be nice.

I'm tired of waking up the sleepyheads every. single. match.
(which strangely is never an issue in a 12men-fw-group, but that's another discussion)

another point for a side-discussion: why is it an assault in 9 of 10 times that's sleepy? why is the same assault asking for help, cause ouf of position, 2min later?
and why does the same pilot repeat the same sh*t next game, having learnt nothing?

nah.. it's not the salt talking. It's just amazing to see in what 'speed' kids learn, yet grown men refuse to ;)

Speaking of the ready button...does it actualy do something?
I mean maybe people would stay ingame when they would know that when everybody pressed it the timer is set to 5 seconds to start instead of still waiting.
Sure one person can still make you wait the entire time but maybe it could speed things up just a little bit enough for people to stay focused and we wouldn't need any sound.

Those comparisons are a joke.

If you're so busy that a couple of minutes are going to impact you and you can't occupy yourself with your own thoughts then you probably have bigger problems.

You know what's a pointless waste of time? Losing because someone was too distracted and either missed the entire round or came back late and was killed off away from the rest of the team. They just wasted my time. The onus shouldn't have to be on the developer to have a system that waves its arms and sounds a siren to get you back into something that you should be playing.

So is your "loading screens have always been a thing" argument.
Also and how many games you know that you have to wait 2-20 minutes to get a group and then another 10 minutes maximum to find an opponent and then loading screen and then another countdown screen. That is not couple minutes that might be 10-30 minutes. And yes I have better things to do than watch that searching/loading symbol, if you want to do your daydreaming between games, good for you.

So it's your waste of time for people to not come back from desktop to play the match but some kind of notification sounds is big no no because? I hope you get a lot of those games.

And if some failure game developers like Valve have decided that it's a good thing to have sound notification after MM is done, they are probably wrong and you are right.

Can we have a countdown sound...bout 5 seconds before a match starts?
Maybe then we can have all people alt-tab back into the match before it starts instead of when its nearly over.
You get an audible count down timer before map voting ends, you get an audible startup sequence every time your 'mech starts up at the beginning of the match.

OTHER THAN having a hand come out of the screen to slap you in the f'ing face, WHAT MORE do you want?
