Just announced on the Developer AMA, right from the horse's a**, err, mouth, Russ: Epic is NOT subsidizing the pre-order refunds.

There were about 20K pre-orders, and already 7000+ refunds... 1/3 of their pre-orders are already gone.

Good maybe the few scratches and bloody nose this gives their wallet will help them understand what the giant ******* claymore they rammed through out backs feels like. Honestly though considering how much B.S he spews and how many times the jackass has lied, it would not suprise me if this was another of his little "miscomminications". Screw PGI

All that Epic Games money is gonna be cancelled out by the tidal wave of incoming refund requests. Instead of playing it safe PGI decided to take a short-term cash bonus at the expense of possibly putting the final nail in the company's coffin.

LOL! PGI putting Epic game store out of business due to refunds? That would be the day!

No no no - The kickback money PGI received from Epic, for this farce of a release, would be canceled out by the loss of the money from pre-order refunds. Epic store wouldn't be put out of business, but if it did happen, then PGI would essentially have $0 profit at launch, and probably negative as time goes on because most of us refuse to use that Chinese spying-enabled POS Epic Store.

Not at him, at the fond memorys of the old MW games. Since the legendary founders debacle i haven't given them so much as a wooden nickle full of rabid diseased termites. Hell i only pre ordered because it was going to be on steam with mod support, and because it had a beta. Figured worst case it would launch a buggy barely playable mess that would get fixed by modders skyrim style. And even if the game never launched we at least would have had the beta on a modern engine in the wild for one of the talented BT community members to mod into a full fun game.

I wasnt the only one who only took a chance because it was on steam with mod support, even though we have ZERO trust in PGI. Now its on crapic which has **** and all for mod support and at least a 6 month wait to get it. So me and many others who were willing to take the risk aren't which is why you see HUNDREDS of people refunding. So as usual pgi has managed to find a way to spit all over their customer base. So again screw PGI.

apparently its only hundreds, got my info from Wilhelm Kerensky so sorry bout that. Point still stands however.

I already edited that post to correct the number...

But keep in mind, even with "only" 700+, this is only the first day... I expect it to snowball really hard in the coming weeks / months.

Epic has been on my **** list ever since Unreal Tournament 2004, when I had to download a NO-CD cracked executable to play my DAY ONE PHYSICAL COPY GAME (before digital downloads). This was because of their use of Secu-ROM DRM which literally made the legitimately-purchased copies of the game UNPLAYABLE!

You know itll snowball once it gets out. Russ has no good faith left from the community to burn. They were already shaky. Just read their social media posts during MW5s development. The comments alone tell a story of people dont trust PGI and think Russ is a liar and a cheat.

Maybe MW5 will be the video game equivalent of Jihad like it was on tabletop.

Dude, Epic literally have billions of fortnite moneyz, Naive old timers refunding will not make a dent to that one, let alone the money PGI receives may have a slight dent but not enough to say no to that fornite money.

Not entirely true.

If I'm disconnecting from MW5 a year (or more) before I'm going to play it the odds of my re-investing in it declines significantly.

I may not be the total whale some people are but I'm certainly a spender. I have literally most the mech packs and pre-orders. I preordered the largest package for MW5.

However EGS is a bad experience and I say that having tried, repeatedly to use it. I wanted it to be a thing as I really dislike steams model, it's a bad deal for developers, especially small ones. If I take the step to cancel I'm not going to be throwing money at MW5. If the only real money PGI makes from MW5 is the Epic exclusive deal money and the player base moves on in the interim, where does that leave them? 12 months may feel like a long time waiting for a game but for a business that's a super short time.

So much goodwill burned. Unfortunate.

Good will burned? What good will? The community population has been declining. Steadily because PGI cannot or will not change anything other than more mecpacks. Founders Era and Heros,Community Warfare,Infowarfare,Company Management, planetary holdings etc.

Every time something was announced it was delivered half assed, broken,or not worth the effort to touch.

Actually dude its entirely true; epic reimburses lost pre-orders.

So in the event you do actually buy the game at a later time its like you bought it twice.

Arr matey I hear the port will have new goods on launch week if we are quick we can scoop some up.

I was saying PGI would be going out of business, not Epic. Obviously Epic is gonna unfortunately be around for a while.

Another thing straight from the horse's, well, you know...

EPIC only reimburses Indie devs for pre-order refunds. ACCORDING TO RUSS™, every pre-order refund will be coming out of PGI's own pockets...

Maybe Anonymous or those internet anti heroes can.. make hmm things get rough, stirr things up for Epic? Hack em and flow all the money back to the customers and developers with a message: " This is for the principle of not lying and betraying your fans and customers who backed you in the first place, oh and here you have your cash back dear payers, think twice next time ;P " Fire with fire, so be it an inferno and make a new start out of the ashes.

Something must be done with the ilks of Epic. I guess NOT give in to using their platform is the right thing for a start.
