I picked the Zeus. Tried a few things, currently run it with 3SRM6+A, 3LLs, and LFE engine. The original XL380 engine was also very fun, but very risky in an unskilled mech. I may go back to it, or a slightly smaller XL after skilling it up.

Hunchback IIC HBK-IIC(C) -strong but fragile
Orion IIC ON1-IIC-A(C) -great brawler
Highlander IIC HGN-IIC-C(C) -meh.
Wolfhound WLF-1(C) -good mech
Phoenix HAWK PXH-2(C) -fun, but biiiig.
Warhammer WHM-6D(C) -doesn't click for me. dakka-whammy for me pls.
Adder ADR-PRIME(C) -meh.
Nova NVA-S(C) -meh.
Kodiak KDK-3(C) -boring²
Roughneck RGH-1A(C) -no idea
Bushwacker BSW-S2(C) -it's a bushy. everybody should have one. or 7.

Grab the Grasshopper. Its really soild, once you become a better pilot. You can even run xl well to ok in them.
Long range 3 Er larges, 4 er meds
Mid 3 large 4 meds.
Poker 2 large pulse 5 meds
Brawler 1 large pulse 6 meds pulse
Good mech, probably why pgi try to nerf it every major patch.

And if you don't have a Warhammer 6D, grab one. It is the most flexible mech in the game. Can do 1000 of different builds and it is the mech I recommend new people to get if they are going IS.

I haven't picked any yet. It's a toss up between a lot of mechs now. I have to make up my mind soon.

Yeah, I think I'll get the Orion IIC. I want to build my Clan mech collection and it seems to be a good one as well as versatile.

While it is not the best roughneck, this is only because the others are so good.
Try it with 2LB10X (both torso mounted), 2SRM2, MPL and STD270 engine. Keeps it uniqe from the other RGHs, weapons are high mounted, sync very well and fire fast, good speed, and with the STD you can take a lot of damage even for a roughneck.

I put 2 lb10 in the torso, kicked everything out and put a proper engine in. Only good thing is the ballistic hardpoints. In the torso that is. That thing is a chore.

It works better with MRMs than torso mounted auto cannons.

Not the worst but still pretty low on the list of must-have or fun lights. Spider 5v always has my vote as worse because all you have are two ct energy hard points. Panther at least has armor ranking just under urbie when fully armored tree with an lfe or std engine. Out of all the panthers KK is the best and has the cool dragons to boast.
