My experience with this game is that i seem to have a giant bulleye on my forehead. I could have several friendlies around me presenting as targets and I just always seem to be the one that gets focused down. Makes me wonder about somehow wielding this "bad luck" as a weapon. Maybe a mech and has an actual tower shield or something to use to protect allies and help with push advances. maybe I'm way out in left field with this but if a mech can wield melee weapons I don't see this as that much of a stretch.

Shields already exist in the Battletech universe but PGI will need to implement a way for the mech to move the shield from side to front.

The problem is not you or your mech. It's the other players who use aim-bots and trigger macros to improve their accuracy and rate of fire. That just sucks all the fun out of the game.

Short of an issue with how rate of fire was handled for rac and MG (both lacked a mandatory no fire cooldown time which in turn meant the game had no lock for rate of fire for them. So long as the game isn't bugged with faulty settings like that a macro can only achieve less than the firing rate for holding down the key.

Much like a turbo button on Street fighter if the attack has a cool down of one second then turbo literally can't do anything that just tapping it once a second or holding down the button couldn't do.

One may still be needed on the jumpjet hit detection hop (don't know if fixed) and far as the other thing just be vigilant with recordings so that you can report fishy long range Snipes.

Moving to shields. Mwo would first need a key to move the shield in front of the body. Most shield like shapes are shoulder paldrons which can be used to catch lrms on the arm hitbox instead of the torso. But yes sporting the Large Shield would be a welcome addition. It's only canonically worth a few tons of armor and costs that plus half a ton.

Good aim =/= aim bot. Now I understand your disdain for anything non-LRM.

Barely touched MWO the past 3 months, but IMX aimbots are rare in this game. Compared to many other shooters, MWO moves at a leisurely pace. And most players favor the bigger, slower mechs. Quite simply put, most players, especially the younger ones, don't need an aimbot to core your face when you're bigger than an office tower and only marginally faster.

Oh, yeah, I HAVE seen shots that made me wonder. But all I can do is report and leave it to PGI to sort it out. They have all the logs and such, I don't. What looks fishy to me might have been the third attempt at a headshot and the dude finally got lucky, or maybe, just maybe, some people really are that good. But, once again, if it looks fishy, report and move on. Every few months there's someone jumping on the forums claiming that nearly everyone is cheating, yet none of them ever provide any proof.

I streamed this game for a few years, and I can't think of any incidents that were clear cut aimbotting in that time. I've seen a few accusations from folks. And most of the time such accusations are due to the accuser's lack of awareness. (No, I'm not cheating; you're just so oblivious to your surroundings that I was able to walk a SplatDog right up behind you and gut you with prejudice.)

Speaking of oblivious....
Lordred got this shot of me and an enemy in a match because this guy was oblivious.

In fact after waiting for a bit I finally shot him hence the particles and I greeted him in the chat again. He stood there for a moment completely confused and finally shot back.

I mean, as one person who gets accused over and over in FW as aimbotting, (which is hilarious for so many reasons including my aim sucks) there are 2 sides of the story.

1st side: guy in cw walks into 4 enemy players, shoots his lasers and starts charging his Racs, he gets blown away by 2 high alpha ebons/hellbringers and 2 madcats/blood asps. Screams this never happens how can someone core him out in 1 shot. Yells hacks and blames everyone other than himself.

then.....The second side of the story is this guy.

apparently headshotting a catapult is harder than it looks ;p

What mech are you piloting? Handful of mechs are priority targets, some just have awful hit boxes wich make them easy targets.

A) I'm talking about an actual tower shield add on, like a melee weapon.
B ) You can't articulate your arms to protect your CT without twisting your whole torso

So, how much damage should the shield mitigate? How long should players be allowed to turtle behind the shield?

While there are shields later on in timeline or was it Solaris, IIRC there isn't realy a need for that. The assault / heavy class of mech is the "shield" for the others...thats why assault LRM mechs are so disliked. If you jump into an assault you will be focused thats your job.
So no to shields...this isn't Gundam or Counterstrike or something like that. It will allways happen that you are the one the enemy decideds to focus down and another game it will be someone else.
