Dear PGI,

I would like to know how I managed to shoot down 437 missiles on Crimson Strait, while INSIDE the tunnel..... Evidently AMS uses hammer-space rules?

AMS has never had a collision detection system for its ammo w.r.t the surroundings, which is a major oversight. Nothing new.

I guess that bug comes from the problem that the AMS dosn't has a "line of sight" detection paired with a simple Ai behavior that it would need to make a decision when to fire and when not to fire.
A simple hit detection wouldn't work well as it would still fire in the tunnel and just waste your ammo while hitting nothing.

So to make AMS work correctly they would have to invest some work I think.

Reminds me of a program that I used that had a bug in it for years. When the finaly fixed it people where so used to it that the company brought it back as an optional thing after people complained a lot about it beeing fixed ! ^_^

he's not, ams breaks the fabric of space time and can create portals through another dimension which allows it to go through all forms of matter

I believe this was answered some time ago. IIRC (and to sum it up):

The amount of system resources required to ray-trace every missile in line of sight was excessive. It was the the thing with inverse kinematics.

So yes, it can be 'fixed', but good luck running the game afterwards.

Nice Aliens reference. Better not use LRMs to do it, though. The entire site might move behind a hill and the volley will slam harmlessly into non-destructible terrain.

To add to this, I was on a FP match Domination/Alpine peaks and Missiles were being knocked out by LAMS from the other side of a hill. With the pink streaks from the LAMS coming out of the side of the hill.

Firstly, as others have already said, if this is a "bug" then PGI is well aware of it and has chosen not to expend the resources to address it.

Secondly, what's the problem? Shut of your AMS if you are worried about wasting ammo/effort while in the tunnel or leave it on and pad your match score. What's not to like here?

Thirdly, 437 in the tunnel? Phhtttt. I've downed 958 while stuck in there the whole match, since the March patch. That may or may not be a record for me in that circumstance; until recently I never bothered to look.
