Lovely sarcasm. A dark dray 'mech moving against most of PGI's muddy backgrounds is less visible. In heat vision, it's pretty much invisible, and if you've got your gamma turned up, night vision is unusable.

Worse yet, most of the 'mechs using it a small, so when they're face hugging your leg, you're only going to, AT BEST, see the tops of those 'mechs (some times, when the minimap isn't blocking the view) for a few moments.

Hell, I was watching TheBeef's stream a day or so ago, when he's running around in his stealthed LGR Cicada, and a stealth commando started harassing him, TheBeef (who we can agree is NOT a potato), couldn't keep track and see the Commando, and when the Commando got close in, even on the Cicada, all you saw was the head and shoulders of the mech, AS LONG AS, it wasn't being hidden by the minimap.

Then there's the completely exploitative situation with stealthed Locusts and other very short 'mechs on the Classic Forest Colony maps. Those F'ers are COMPLETELY UNDERWATER on the far side of the boat, and when completely underwater are in fact VERY NEARLY 100% GODDAMNED INVISIBLE. Even though the little bugger was directly in front of me most of the time, I had one hell of a time killing it because there were no tell tale water ripples, the smoke from the open area was lagged showing where it HAD been, never where it actually WAS at the moment.

Incredibly frustrating to kill those things, and had I NOT noticed it as it came around the boat BEFORE it dropped under the water, I'd have NEVER known what the F was happening nor been able to fight it.

again the solution is to make sensors and especially BAP counter stealth better. And make it so only stealth armor grants stealth, ecm should not grant stealth. And stealth armor shouldnt grant impenetrable stealth, you should still be targettable at close range.

the range you detect stealth at should be based on your max sensor range. Like 20%-25% of your max sensor range. So the longer your max sensor range the greater the distance you can detect stealthed mechs at.

And BAP should give an additional bonus to detecting stealthed mechs (in addition to the bonus it already gives by increasing your sensor range).

The disruption radius of the ECM on the stealth mech should be drastically reduce while the stealth is active. Stealth mechs shouldn't be providing 120 meter radius jesus bubble shielding to friendlies at the same time they're making themselves invisible to radar locks.

actually, shouldn't stealth be disabled the moment armor is breached on any section of the mech?

Remind me again, what's the direct counter to stealth?

According to the battletech rules for stealth armor...
The Guardian ECM Suite mounted on the unit does not function with the armor activated, but the 'Mech suffers as if it were in an ECM field. With the Armor disabled, the ECM will function normally.[6]

i think tag should reveal stealth. sort of like a ppc, but without knocking the target out of stealth mode, it would act like a downgrade to ecm only while the tag is in effect.

Eh, specialized energy absorbent armor (what SA is, and is similar to today's radar absorbent coating on modern stealth aircraft) would just absorb and/or scatter the TAG beam so it wouldn't get a return. PPCs carry enough energy to disrupt/overload the electrical systems of the ECM though, and should bring down SA while the ECM is down (since SA relies on the ECM to function in the first place).

TAG already does reveal stealth, but since Stealth ECM is uncounterable, you still can’t use tag to any effect if the stealth mech is within 120m.

Honestly, that’s the only effect of stealth I think is a bit naff - TAG locks shouldn’t be disrupted by ECM, and then it would be fine, and there would be a reason to keep TAG on many mechs after the recent changes.
