Think we will ever get them? How should they work?

They could be like RACs.... or burst fire gauss, or burst fire Gauss/lbx hybrid?

I was also thinking that they could take the charge up mechanic and give them some intermediate charge levels. For instance (below values are place holders just to get the concept across):

For HAG 40

0.5 seconds, 1 shot, 10 damage
1 second, 2 shot burst, 20 damage
1.5 seconds, 3 shot burst, 30 damage
2 seconds, 4 shot burst, 40 damage


Or something like that? I don't know, but it would be cool to have something new and interesting like that!

I'm in favor of burst fire. I suspect though they probably don't want to add more weapons. Have they even finished retrofitting all the mechs with the new weapon models? lol.

I'm guessing like MRMs as well.

Likely won't be considered until the current round of mech retrofits (for civil war weapon models) complete...

Ohhhh I like the MRMs idea, obviously with higher velocity.

But would it need to be charged?

How many more mechs need retrofits, I'm thinking not many unless I'm wrong.

Be nice to start getting new equipment in general help breathe some new life into the mechlab again. Plus HAG's behave more like a ballistic mrm with charage.

Charge-up ballistic MRMs would be fine. I guess we can give basically any other Gauss-based weapons (AP Gauss, Magshot, HAG, Silver Bullet, etc.) the charge mechanic as a part of what defines their "Gaussy-ness."

Agreed especially on the Clan side, since all their new stuff basically behaved like old stuff with different stats.

I would imagine it would function similarly to MW:LL's hyper assault gauss rifle, with PGI's goofy charge up time mechanics for all gauss styled weapons. I just wish they would revert the charge up time of gauss rifles, or possibly add something in the skill tree to remove the stupid charge up time at a penalty of a longer cool down duration after shots. I know the common argument is to "git gud and deal with it" when it comes to the charge up mechanic, but it's genuinely the main reason why I don't like running gauss styled weapons because it's just not fun for me anymore. If they added HAG's I'd be in the same boat as before and never run them.

I wish PGI undid it's clan laser nerfs, general PPC nerfs and the gauss rifle charge up time mechanics since I'm growing tired of the ballistic auto cannon meta for quite some time now. On the up side I am enjoying the LRM changes since the LOS mechanic feels fresh to me at least.

That's only weapons. Imagine all the other goodies we could have PGI would only put the work in. Still dreaming of small cockpits so I can mount some bigger weapons in the head of my mechs. lol.

Unfortunately different cockpit and gyro types would require a full rework of how engines work in MWO because right now gyro and cockpit tonnage is rolled into engine tonnage. They'd have to become separate items and engines would need their weights reduced correspondingly. PGI would also have to make it go your gyro would automatically increase in tonnage as your engine does.

to be fair they could add almost limitless laser weaponry sence they all use the same hardpoint model. any missile weaponry under 40 tubes is 20 clan (which would cover things like mmls, streak lerms, etc). only the ballistics seem to make good use of the model retrofits. thats assuming they didnt do something while they were in there to ease future retrofits, but thats probibly not the case.

I had the same thought, though I can't add new firing mechanics. I ended up creating Gauss rifles with the usual charge, multiple projectiles with a slight spread, and a whole lot of particles.

I honestly could live with them reusing existing weapon models for most of them. More concerned with the function. I honestly don't usually have the time or inclination to make a visual check of an enemy's weapons.
