I'm torn. Do I farm out the missile damage quickly with a LRMtato mech or do I do it properly and take an SRM bomber instead?

another event, if someone were to start playing, could not complete.
yeah they could waste a mech bay, and C-Bills, just to get 250k c-Bills
it's the only thing I dislike about some events, one could not even use a trial mech, since none of the trial mechs have the weapon needed.
other then that . . another free stuff event

Oh, is the Nova not the trial 'mech, anymore? Apart from the AMS challenge, the other 11 items can be completed with any trial 'mech. And the AMS thing can be completed with any IS 'mech, once you own it and reconfigure it...

Technically you can complete the challenge with any Clan Omnimech, too. You just have to go out of your way to either buy the variant, or at least the omnipod, that has the AMS in it, which sometimes forces you to abandon a better omnipod that you might otherwise have taken (e.g.: Shadow Cat-Prime left torso, instead of the -B left torso that has ECM).

Actually: easy solution. Buy a Flea, or an Urbanmech, or Locust, or Commando, or something. They all have at least one AMS hardpoint (and some have two), and can be acquired for less than two million CB at full-price. Throw an AMS in there, and just stand around uselessly for a match or two.

I took my stock MLX-A the other day, when I wanted to play a match to finish out the match score portion of the last challenge, but was too tired to shoot straight. The MLX-A, for those who don't know, has 2x AMS, 2x Machine gun with a half-ton of ammo, a Flamer, and a Tag laser. I did 1 dmg the whole match, but I shot down over 1000 missiles, so I got highest match score in my lance.

that's the point I was getting at, to complete the event, as a new player/Pilot, you need to earn C-bills, and the events are great for that . . love that part, but if you have to spend more then the reward . . you really gained nothing, . . course if it's a mech you were planning to get anyways . no issue there.

oh and yeah . . no NOVA in trial selection

probably a new player/Pilot, would even noticed such, it is still something I dislike seeing anyways, where one could not even use a trial mech, to complete the event

When I first started playing a loooong time ago I was faced with this dilemma. Then a vet directed me to the free C-Bills available at the Academy and away I went .

Unless the Academy has changed, I would recommend the same to all new players.
