I see, but that would not help them to find newly created troll accounts which didn’t use payment.

Unless you’re suggesting they take the info and go to the police about their current trolling or something, but unless they’ve done something that rises to the level of criminal harassment, the info PG has isn’t of much use to them.

Oh my god.

This change was only made to address TWO PEOPLE. One of whom threatened the developers in a video.

Legally, a criminal case probably wouldn't get them anywhere. They could however probably prove they have had an impact on sales and go after them that way.

At the very least both of these users are likely violating the Terms of Service with their ISP and can be dealt with that way.

It's like people don't know how to mute people, and if that's the case then make it a lot easier to do.

I'm not a VoiP kinda guy, I don't have a mic. I just have very fast fingers to communicate. But this seems to be overboard if it's just for 2 people.

TBH I don't see why muting cadets would be needed, or who requested such a feature.. if anything, how else are cadets going to ask for help, pointers, or to join a unit?

Displaying their cadet status could be helpful, because then the experienced players will not expect them to shine, and might go easier on them..

But an important question rears it's ugly head...

When was the last time anyone has actually met a "true cadet", and by "true" I mean someone who's genuinely new to this game, and not some T1's new alt account?

I can't remember the last time I met one of those unicorns..

lol. You play in Tier 1, and there aren't many units that will have you in drops. Of course you don't meet new users.

We have several fresh people in MS.

This is ultimately going to hurt NPE even more, and its all because two manchild edgelords like yelling the N word into comms.

Does not pressing "R" and firing at every target in front of you count as a cadet? 'Cause I used to do the latter quite often until I started to use different weapons and focus fire. I see such people in QP quite often.

banning based on IP doesn't work. neither on MAC etc.
I mean, it's a little brick thrown in for the pro-trolls, but both are relatively easy to circumvent.

as others have suggested: 25matches where NO TEAMDAMAGE is made.
then gradually raise it to 100% in maybe a hundred matches.
it's good for everybody, honestly.


the muting etc is also.. meh. I just wish the "report"-function we have would actually do something instead of going straight to the waste-basket.. muting beginners isn't good. they have questions and maybe wanna find ingame-pals.. this makes it harder.


the 'cadet' title is actually useful info, though. I know PGI claims that Tier1 doesn't drop with T5, but I had it so many times that people on comms said "wow.. I never dropped on this map before" - which is a strange thing to hear in T1 (that was before the new-old-maps).
so.. seeing that they are 'cadets' clears things up and maybe we can be 'extra-forgiving' and helpful in that case (where being salty is the norm, as yolos in T1 do their sh*te on purpose).
title helps the rest of us to differenciate between actual new folks doing beginner-mistakes - and the yolotrolls who just don't care.

Of all the annoying things I hear on comms it isn't from Cadets...

Why make new players feel unwelcome when we can just press TAB and mute someone we don't want to hear?

MAC Address is easier to spoof. IP addresses are generally dynamically allocated by an ISP, and banning a range can mean other users get affected - it’s also possible to use proxies to hide your IP, but that’s a bit more effort. Best to talk to the ISP about the trolls breaking TOS, as mentioned above, but I’m not sure how easy it would be to get one to act.

Nothing, but it will limit the john wayne accounts from dropping nbombs all over the place...for 25 games. So I guess people will get to enjoy their teamkilling allies in silence...for 25 games. Obviously this is a genius fix and I imagine there is two elated people giggling at the impact and attention they're getting and the absurd changes to address them. PGI is not winning here.
