Yes I've observed the same, it may sound quaint but sticking with your team goes a LONG way to winning games.

Well just saw old mate GuardDogg in game. Running around in a heavy mech (MDD with streaks, PTSD from Lights is real).

The key point though is he was behind his teams NASCAR, literally 5 Assaults were 150M infront of him because he was doing... Well I don't even know what based on map positioning etc. No reason to be there at all. Standing still letting 2 of us shoot him in the back without turning around Posted Image

Having seen that and this entire thread... Mystical claims of 5 ERPPC Ravens... It just comes back to the most simplest of things here IMO. 13 pages... Summed up in 3 words.

Basic map awareness. If you cant stay with your team in a 81km/h mech when you have 5 x 50-55km/h mechs well in-front of you... Ya got some serious awareness issues.

Out to btch Note (about me) everyone about a round. Give it a break.

I was with 4 other team mates in valley and a Mist lynx jumped over. Was out to engage, but got away. Then I found myself alone. Should heard on mics everyone complaining. "I got one." Myself, just listening (what ever). Most said they were T5. I am like wtf? How? So, I didn't give it much of a battle. Just did what I could do. Wasn't going to be a pleasing round.

Note to that stupid Raven 5 Erppc. I saw once. I do not have proof, so it is a fail to show. If their is any hacking the only way to prove is a video. You didn't see it, you will never will, and no one else will. Not going to happen. It was dumb to bring it up.

Dude you were not with your teammates. They all went up the ramp and you were off looking the wrong direction. There was even a UAV above me I'm pretty sure as your teammates reacted (IE: Moved on my approach). You did not, just stood there, still.

You were not with your assaults, you were out of position.

End. Of. Story.

Don't make up stories about "most said they were T5"... Spare us the tall tales.

Holy crap! Omg...you are out to flame aren't you? Other than the problem of Assault mechs posts. You that lonely fat kid?

I know I wasn't with my team mates after. I was with 4 other in the valley. All happened very fast after that jumping mist lyxe (jumped over valley). Then found myself alone, and mouse acting up. Only moving up/down. That I had to use keyboard for left/right. I just rebooted. Couldn't care about that. Easy fix after match. But I did found myself alone, and next thing, said to myself. I am now done, seeing 8 other enemy mechs above me. And they did say they were in T5. I thought "they must be joking", and they sound liked it on mic. Why am I with these guys? Team was scattered, and some were grouped up. It was a messed up round I couldn't bring together. So give it up.

Flame?

Dude - you're saying your experience is caused by everyone else's poor play. The issue is predominately yours to fix because you're the cause.

My experience? I didn't say about poor play?? You drunk? I wasn't going to do good in this round, due to a lot of things happening, and what some were suggesting on mic. So I let it ride and do best. So I lost, what is your problem? What do you want? For me to have a heart attact? Because you are rising up my blood pressure right now. Doing a good job at it.

Sure good player can bring out more out of assault. The problem is, not all of us are good players, and not all out us can become "good" with time progress. Taking myself as example, while I am casual player not playing a lot, after 2.5 years and i havent hit T2 probably means i just dont have the potential to become a good player, and I dislike your view that which putting the blame on meh pilots like me which i (we) dont really have the solution for it (git gud).

When we discuss the strength and weakness of each class, I am on the view that we should look at them on the perspective of the mass (the average performance across all the whole population), not just the good/experienced players.

I am an average player and when I play assault mechs I can track light mechs and also do not often get caugh flat-footed by a light mech. When I started playing, lights mechs were in a much better shape then nowdays and I adapted slowly but surly to counter them. Playing light mechs yourself helps because you will know how they move, their routes etc. The same goes for positioning in an assault mech which is quite differently from playing a light mech and so on.

When I see people screaming and yelling here about immortal light mechs and how fragile assaults are...quite honestly, then this person isn't even an average player. They suck, not even because of their "skill" but more so because of their attitude towards learning. This holds true for positioning, for builds (e.g. when you can't hit lights, then put a streak launcher on your mech but even this they refuse because if their hubris), for playing other classes (play other mech classes and learn their strengths and weaknesses), for aiming (learn to shoot damaged sections, go for legs of lights etc)

This all reminds me of spoiled children stomping on the ground to get what they want, yet refuse to do anything for it.

Regarding assaults, heck, last night I had a match with 9!!! assaults per team. I am sure these mechs need buffing /sarcasm

Now you say "I am average and I can't do that" and it seems you share the above mentioned attitude...but of course you want to play an assault mech...I mean that all doesn't compute. You can't have everything.

Bringig up "fun" is also a very spongy argument because every person defines "fun" differently. If you want to "own" people...heck, then you need to improve to a level where you can do it. PGI can't do everything for you.

For me "fun" is not only blowing mechs up but also building mechs, trying new things (yes, sometimes I get obliterated in the process), play some of my beloved odd mechs like the Trebuchet K, and getting better while playing.

Lets be honest, all of us have a subjective perception of our's and the others's actions and skills.

There is always a gap between self-assessment and reality.

The only question is how big this gap is.

The guy, Ash, is simply pointing out that your alone alot and due to his experience which I might add is greater than yours hes telling you that you are alone because of your positioning

You admit it.........I am alone in your posts, so hes trying to give you some advice as are others, about your positioning which I also think is the reason for being alone.

And you neg that person in response and then play the victim.
What he do?

He gave you advice.

Now if you just don't care about heeding advice and getting good, your much better off spamming the forums about :

I think doh you fail to grasp you nerf something the good players are just gonna beat you with the new best something.

So nerfing weapons and mechs dont work much as the real reason is that mixed skill levels are in the same game/match in the first place

Only maatch maker can fix that

I've never witnessed said Raven, but I remember the 8 or 9 PPC Hunchback back in the beta days. I think this was possible through local XML editing, which was made impossible right after. Quite possible that the aformentioned Raven is from the same time period.

thing is, you can play out of position quite well if you have the speed or JJ's. you just have to be first of the pack and not last and go with the flow of the battle :|

to me, it seems that OP just has no intention to take fire early or take some risks.
if you going to play a mech as supporter (a mad dog always been a support mech) then do so but failing to get into fights jus is the most common thing of players "want to have fun!" Posted Image

Look, all 5 of us were in valley, (while others were all over the map.) I was on the right. A Mist lynx jumped over valley from center. Two guys yelled out. "Get that Lynx." So, we did. But waiting for it to return, my mouse (razor Naga Chroma) acted up. Stopped working. (only can move up/down), and then to use keyboard to torso twist (left/right). I was like oh crap. So, the other team mates were going up ramp, and found myself alone. All was going so fast, that even the tail end of enemy was moving fast towards me from above. I only could do so much. I knew I was a gonner. So, I let the enemy have it. Some rounds you do not have a choice, and I am sure I am not the only one that been in that situation.

Furthermore, I would never post on a players play/movement. Maybe the guy is having a bad round, or what ever. Appears, you are out to humiliate the person. How would it be if some person wrote about your round in a post? You wouldn't like it. "I was in a round with so, and so, and you should see him play, LMAO!, the Mr.PTST guy." My blood pressure went very high after the post. I had to defend it. And will always will. It was embarrassing/humiliating about a difficult round. That I had to get off. It was late night anyways. That wasn't advice, that was an insult to let others know how I played in a round.

If you want to see how good you are, check the Jarl's list.

dunno man, i dont like all that jarl's list thing. i have no clue how i even get up to that %.
im suiciding in at least 20% of the battles i am because of my team's movement. (yes, it is really that bad at times that you can see its going to be a waste of time even trying.)

my most played mech is a quickdraw 5k (1140 battles :| )
followed by dragon-1c and victor-9s

i think, jarls list is flawed.

Jarl's only counts match score. You abuse any mechanic that gives you match score (e.g. damage) and you will get a high rating. There are multipliers that inflate scores for Light and Medium and deflate scores for Heavy and Assault.

So, basically, be goddamn amazing at doing tons of damage and you win Jarl's.

cheers but then its even more mysterious to me how i went up to where i am Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image
i dont care about stats and stuff (my k/d for example is **** as i prefer to leave halved mechs behind and care about dangerous mechs more)

so i guess, still isnt a good metric to use as people that lack teamplay but stand in the back are typically having more success in such lists than teamplayers.

Jarl's works on the assumption that there is a correlation between match score and player ability and, generally, there is, but it's not a super tight one. I would be higher if I played only the 'Mechs I'm actually good in, and even higher still if I actually brought and used airstrikes (which I generally don't). But, you see in my history (Yeonne Greene before name change to current) a whole bunch of dips where I play things like Assaults or skill up 'Mechs.

oh yeonne i know you for a long time, dont worry^^ i know good players in this game if they dont rename to something really different :>

we actually just met on a forest colony battle and i tried to jump-MRM you to death in your marauder 2 Posted Image

no, everyone does skilling up at times and stuff like that but i also know alot of guys playing the most abusive and toxic playstyle you can have and those are surely pretty far up on that list, just using every teammate as meatshield or spotter while never take any damage or push a line.
just farming stats.

thats why i think that list is nothing but a beautiful thing to check your own doing but not on how good a player really is.
