Anyone "in The Know" Heard Anything Regarding Pgi's License Renewal?

Anyone heard anything on this? Has Russ or other devs given any indication on the progress of the license in any of the MW5 chats, or twitter or elsewhere?
Just curious if anyone has heard anything.

It's pretty obvious.
I have the potentially unpopular opinion that MA was actually fun for what it was. It sure isn't a true BT game, but for stompy robot action it did just fine. If it didn't have the expectations of the BT IP looming over it then it probably wouldn't be nearly as hated as it is.

Seems like something is happening behind the scenes and Russ doesn't have yet a lock on renewing the license.
I am considering a scenario that another gaming company may have given Microsoft an offer to buy out the license.

I'd have difficulty believing that given the history, but whatever.
I was asking only because I have had a few former whales express to me how they are (to their apparent consternation and surprise) actually pretty happy with PGI's conduct of late (balance ain't terrible for the most part, old maps return, reskin of canyon, etc.), and how if they thought the game would still be around for a reasonable time after MW5 drops that they might be willing to drop $ on MWO again; but because PGI has given no indication that the game will even exist in a year they aren't willing to.
So I thought I would ask if anyone has heard anything.
If no one knows anything, and PGI isn't talking,no biggie. It was just a conversation that made me wonder.

there is also no reason not to announce a renewal. as with pgi's usual 'keep the player base in the dark' policy. they will also likely try to sell a mech pack a mere 2 weeks before the shutdown.

Microsoft 2020 is a very different company from Microsoft in 2002. FASA digital licenses are just dead weight and no longer has any bearing in their corporate mission and objectives. I won't be surprised if they sell it to someone else, and its not likely to be worth much either now.
I won't be surprised either if PGI tries to buy the entire digital rights to Mechwarrior.

That's exactly what they did with the Project Phoenix package. They didn't know if they were getting renewed but sold it anyway. We found out about the situation after the fact.
So yeah, scummy is as scummy does.
