x2 hppc and x2 mrm30... not meta but it was fun. I’m not sure the middle launcher quirks are worth it but I plan playing around with that a bit.

I've been having fun with all three of the ones I got, more than I ever got out of my Atlas (the sole 100 tonner I previously had). It takes some doing figuring out an optimal loadout for each one that matches my playstyle though.

I pretty much go for massed Medium Lasers in the arms (as much as I have hard points for) and then whatever weaponry I can pack into the torso. All three MAD2s wind up stuffed to the gills with DHS, and even then I feel like I have to nerf my firepower just so I don't easily overheat and shut down in the middle of combat. Still fun though.

Also, I'm considering putting upgrading my 4A's engine froim 325 Light to 350 Light purely for the extra heat sink slot.

Hmm. Would the 4A be one of those mechs where it's better to used massed single heat sinks?

I might have been doing it wrong, but with 2 HPPC and 6 medium lasers I couldn't get enough SHS on to make a difference compared to a DHS setup. This is with 0 SP spent mind, not sure how that affects things.

Give the RT on all MAD II with cannon HP a 15+ armor quirk and call it a day. It's should been obivious to add on a mech with that huge of a weakness and taking out more than half your firepower with no problem. Gonna be the BAS situation again with it's easy to hit ST if it don't get addressed soon.

Well something not adding up then, I'm losing my RT faster on my MAD II"s with the cannon faster than my CT. Unless I'm unlucky enough that my RT just get no matter how many times I twist my torso to the left and back.

Also lost RT first on every occasion, played maybe 6 matches last night. However, could just be people aiming there.

Fun. I especially like the 4L with quad AC/2s and stealth. Just park someone and hose out mech behinds from 800 meters.

Yes, I suspect that since for pretty much every Inner Sphere Marauder except the MAD-5D stripping the right side will take off half or more of the weapons the right side gets targeted first. The Marauder shape is easily recognizable and 90% of the time it's the quicker way to get a good amount of firepower off the battlefield.

I think the only real issue I've had is that the cockpit hitbox seems too big. Too often I'm down to structure in the head (from max armour) and I got killed by headshot (not by a single alpha; one took it to structure and a second killed me) in my second match.

Hitbox layout needs work. Bring rear torsos forward a bit. Stretch ST hitboxea upward to cover parts of the gun, leg hitboxes upward over the pelvis, and the CT/ST hitbox should take a page from the Raven, dragon, catapult, timber wolf, etc.

I tried 2 HPPC with DHS, but I found that it runs too hot for my tastes, especially since I tend to miss alot on those long range shots. Swapping out the 2 HPPC for 3 ER Large Lasers seems to run cooler for me, and I'm sure as hell more likely to actually hit my target with them.

Agree with pulling STs up to cover the gun, kind of how the Annihilator's top section is split up (at least I think it is). Either that or keep it as is and give the CT some armour quirks. A bit of a pain to balance methinks, but fully skilled up I think the MAD II will be great.

You know, looking at the 5A... they should have pulled a page from the Behemoth.

Here, it has two Gauss Rifles which combine to make a "unique" single barrel rifle with a backup generator. One in each side torso, and portrayed as a single barrel on top.

In MWO, they could have put an LT and RT ballistic slot...and have the two combine in a single mount on top, perhaps with a barrel-under-barel layout.
It would have significantly increased its value.

Hmm. You know, the Behemoth actually looks like it would fit right in with MWO with almost no visual changes (except for the conversion to 3D model from 2D image of course).

PGi would have to inflate it's size. It's only 12 meters tall...shorter than some mwo lights.

Granted 12 meters tall is bigger than many lights and mediums and even many heavies sub-70 tons, and compared to the 12.6 meters on the post-94 timber wolf (pre-94 scale model in 1993 has it at 11.53 meters if I recall correctly)., visually it looks like it would be smaller than even that 12 meters.
