You have to initialize it every time you start firing with 6 clicks, but after that it fires itself until you let go of the button. Perhaps you don't get exactly perfect spacing between all guns, but you can get pretty close with minimal effort. Spam click left mouse, hold down right mouse. If they end up slightly closer together it doesn't affect the DPS and it makes little to no difference in the suppression effect.

um thats not at all the same thing. the spacing will be completely off. And it will be EXTREMELY off for AC2s.

but is there an advantage to macro chainfiring six AC2s? not really. the suppression effect is pretty negligiable for chainfired AC2s.

could your average person do the same thing manually without a macro though? absolutely not. anyone who can is a freak with 480 apm. I mean thats not entirely outside of human capability but only a very small number of people in the world could do it.

the point is the blanket statement you can do everything manually that you can do with a macro is false. theres certain things most people cant do. but as long as using macros isnt abusive or giving anyone an advantage its not really a problem.

I don't think you understand what I'm talking about. Obviously, the regular chain fire speed will ruin the spacing, but it's perfectly possible to click 6 times in a second and then hold down a button. I can get 8+ with 1s, maintain 6+ over 10s, and 5+ over 1 minute using a single mouse button: https://www.click-test.com/. The cooldown on AC2s is 0.72s, that means a spacing of 0.12s between clicks or 8.3 CPS, which is perfectly doable for 1s. It gets easier if you use multiple mouse buttons.

This isn't exactly what I'm talking about, but it achieves pretty much the same effect in a different way without using any macros:

chain fire needs work.

first fix weapons like racs and gauss that cant be chain fired well. have racs either fire in short bursts before cycling or have them interleave their shots so you can fire at half the rate per gun to manage heat. gauss rifles would charge and auto fire before cycling to the next weapon.

let players tweak their cycle rate so we can set up chain fire groups to be heat neutral or to be continuous firing. you would set this in the mech lab weapon grouping screen and cant change it in game, though you can always switch to group fire.

add a ripple count feature. you set it to one it acts as it does now. if you set it to 2 then it cycles through 2 weapons at a time. set to 3 to fire 3 at a time. you can use this to keep weapons inside their heat cap limits. again its fixed in game and can only be edited in the weapon groups setup.

allow the weapon group screen to set up build defaults, like whether or not you start with your weapon doors open or whether you have override forced on, or have ecm/stealth start in a default mode at drop. ability to set whether a group defaults to chain or group fire mode.

add a group cycle button where you can fire multiple groups in sequence.

Dude, these threads are years old. The users who have been talking about this might not even be around anymore.

Most people who still maintain tier 1 on their profile are all active (otherwise they eventually go back tier 3 if not play the game for a long time)

ive tried a lot of exotic macros but they are never as good as sensible use of the firing groups.

@the necromancer:

seriously: forget about it; read the thread where anybody who playin long enough and has tried it out comes to:
"not worth it".

the one thing it is good for: TAG for beginners: it lets you TAG continously and spares you the click - good when you're still learning.
it's really of NO actual use at all later on.
just don't use it, then you don't have to 'unlearn' to use it. ;)

I have Fire Control and a backed up version from an old transfer hard drive. Neither of them work any more. The prevailing theory is that Fire Control has and autoupdate checker and with EvilC's website being down it crashes when it can't reach it.

My opinion.
Mods should be removed completely, none should be allowed in an online game.. This imo is akin to botting or hacking.. whats next lasers targeting for you and looking through walls to see enemies..

Why even play in that case..

And since EvilC was last seen here in 2019 I somewhat doubt that this will ever be resolved.

"But there is an easy solution. PGI could change how Targeting computers work. If they get rid of all the different types, they could give us just a few that are actually good for smth."

LOL... all the way back from 2019. I guess I wasn't the first one to realize that the current implementation of targeting computers is garbage.

There is a response from EvilC in Reddit about it. He is looking at it.

Multiple rapid fire ACs macro/chained are fun as hell just like RACs... until you are facing more than one mech paying attention to you or a lone mech who knows how to twist and has a good pinpoint alpha.

As soon as a second mech notices you tunnel visioned on a target he is going to core you out or take off a torso severely gimping you.
