I have as I said earlier... 8700k / RTX2080... GPU somewhat irrelevant (as I also pointed out) - either way I have a stable 80FPS on Solaris City. Your 60FPS statement is grossly incorrect when I get 120FPS on many maps as average.

Do NOT run everything at MAX. A lot of settings in MWO, as with many games, overly impact performance for no real benefit.

Just gotta accept that CryEngine sucks and MWO isn't optimised and never will be.

Just to compare, I have a 8700K / GTX970 at 1080p and 120Hz with the game running DX9 with textures on very high and everything else on high I get anywhere from 40-120 fps depending on the map. 40 fps right at the spawn on Solaris City. Turning a couple settings down to medium would get me a few more fps, but the change in visual quality is too noticeable.

While I agree that the game is very CPU bound (which is why I upgraded to the 8700K) your RTX2080 is obviously doing a lot more work than my GTX970.

Well I had a GTX 1070, I was getting the same FPS on Solaris as I did when I upgraded to the RTX2080. There was no real difference at all.

Forget what you have at spawn on the initial map load. Wait 4-5 sec and then see. It should settle to 80FPS+

It's all about CPU and in-game settings. My CPU is also not sitting at stock, it's @ 4.9ghz.

DX9 seems to run worse now than DX11 for some reason. Here are my settings for best visibility/graphics balance:

Shouldnt be a problem for MWO considering I used to get 80 fps with a GTX 770 2GB

What are the best settings for maintaining high fps without looking ugly?

The ones I just listed. You can throw on AA if you wish, and medium shadows.

That settings are something that I would call ugly ^_^
Luckly thats for everyone to decide but I agree that those setting will bring most likely a good performance.

"pretty" is useless if you get rekted every single game you play. Most of the crispness of what you see comes from the textures and object detail anyways, everything else like smoke trails, explosions, PPC trails, etc are just clutter that slows down your game, and obstructs view. This game isn't very pretty even with everything cranked regardless.

Well I try to keep ot around 60 FPS. My screen dosn't show more anyway. Also I like smoke and trails but I agree to be competetive you better dail it down and it looks okay on your settings.

I've been meaning to OC my CPU as well. I should stop procrastinating.

Personally, I would only run with low settings if I was desperate for a fps boost. Even some of the medium settings look bad.

Yeah, I know about that. With textures on very high memory usage is only around 3300MB so it shouldn't make much, if any difference.

Well, you do you, the settings I listed are fairly standard for most competitive players in this game.

Me neither but I tested his settings and except for the ground textures that are realy ugly now its okay. I think I will run with it for some time to see if it has any impact on my performance (read matchoutcome) as it seams that some trees are gone now and you have better visibility.

You'll get at least 20FPS average gain if memory serves correct as it's all about that single core speed.

A lot of stuff on low to high doesn't make much difference TBH. The particles and stuff I can live without (stuff like added details on PPCs explosion).

You can up some of the stuff Vx had and have little to no impact. You just have to play around on your system. I run similar settings to him but some slightly higher.

I've got everything on max with a Xeon W-3175X/RTX Titans on triple ultrawides set to a g-synced 100Hz. MWO's issue isn't PGI's optimization, it's just the garbage level coding from Crytek. You have to take into consideration here, MWO is running on an engine that was designed to tessellate frogs in HD, Crytek themselves have said before CryEngine is optimized for a cinematic experience, meaning 24/30fps, it was meant to look pretty not be fast.

BenQ still makes the best computer monitors.

Not to start a debate Radeon HD cards are still the best on the market.
Running on a SSD drive pushed my ping down to 37 on a good day.
I wouldn't push the RAM passed 12gb I almost crashed the game during my last tax return upgrade 3 years ago. I had to change to a window format. Full screen was crashing.

SSD the Samsung is the only one I recommend. Its the only one on the market that lets you copy Mechanical to SSD. It cost you about $450 to go that course.

Having 32 inch BenQ to run MechWarrior online on is Super Awesome. Bigger is Better!

I don't know, man. Living in a world where improving your hard drive has an effect on your ping sounds pretty amazing.
