And in game when you are first logging in. It is visible by default but one could close/reduce the screen clutter. Right under the HOME button, Pilot Info V maximize (if it has been minimized) Pilot Name, Title then Pilot Skill Rating.

The forum icon can be turned off/on in the website profile.

Look the level based system was my idea. It simply was kind of executed poorly.

Basically we wanted to improve the gaming experience for new players coming into the game. MechWarrior Online has a huge learning curve. So a level based system was created to bracket people into level based slots.

level 5 would fight level 5 level 4 and 3,
level 4 would create a pool from 5, 4, 3 and 2
level 3 would create a pool from 5 to 1
level 2 would create a pool from 1,2,3 and 4
level 1 would create a pool from 1,2,3,

Now if you team played you might have reached level 1 quickly. So your playing the top half of the server population. Your also getting more team based drops with teams of 2 and 4 added to matches.

So its normal your a super awesome tier 1 player. The server will create challenging matches for you using the top 25% of the player base. With your skill level you should be carrying your team with 2 to 4 kills and 12 assists.

If your having issues with tier one play the system will eventually demote you down to a level 2. If you continue to have play issues you go down to level 3. Until it balances you out correctly at your skill level.

doesn't work that way, would take years

I tried already, harder to go down then up once you're in T2.

Posts such as this one help me relish the ponderously slow start I had in this game. I am Tier 3 at present, and could not care one bit about advancing to Tier 2... what would be the point? Tier 3 seems to be that sweet spot where you get to play just about everyone who is still active, if you wait long enough or log in at unusual times. It is cool to fight with and/or against some of the names here in the forums every now and again, yet still maintain a relatively casual playing status.

It's not that you care about NOT advancing to Tier 2 but you get to do it anyway, regardless of how you play. That's the sad part.

Well, I think I understand that... but, having said that, I really have a dozen or more mechs to skill up that will likely delay the inevitable. Especially if I keep picking up some of the average or less platforms, which I seem to excel at.

Trust me. The delay isn't like the delay you'd expect. Take me for e.g., I've been using 4 mechs lately where 3 are the Dakka loadout and one with two shotguns. My stats are bad but I'm still progressing "well" in Tier 2.

Whaled it. Any builds less than optimal jus gets roflstomped. And I don’t play enough to max skills on many of my mechs.

You missed the point entirely, man. The point is not my stats being bad but the continued, unhindered progression towards Tier 1 despite the bad MS.

i totally got your point but by now you kinda should have realized you cant stop becoming t1 anyway.
there is simply no point for stats in general in this game if you arent interested in comp play.

thats why i tell people to play the mechs THEY LIKE.
figuring out loadouts and ways to play is so much more fun than just play the same way over and over.

I can identify with this statement... I don't have a single mech with more than 160 games played. And I spend most of my time tweaking and changing loadouts and logistics, simply for the fun of it. I generally work to skill up new mech purchases or gifts when I can (and there have been an awful lot of those lately, some of which I haven't touched, such as the free Uziel, Warhammer IIC, and Corsair) and am vaguely aware of what 'meta' is supposed to be. But I am way too casual of a player, despite spending what feels like a lot of time at it. Chances are, there are a lot more casuals out there than most folks on the forums realize.
