Just looking to scratch that New Mech/Weapon itch again, since we've been in a bit of a drought.

It takes more devs to get new weapons rolling, tested, and the like than they're willing to re-allocate back into the MWO while really pushing MW5 (can't entirely blame them mind you). Consider how long it took just to get chassis sporting the proper weapon models alone.
Post MW5 release though... who knows? Maybe we'll see a bit of final polishing with the hopes MW5 will drag new folks to MWO for the pvp element for more $$$, but that's a level of optimism I will say, but not really believe.

However, as far as FCCW-era tech is concerned, we basically have everything (except the stuff that MWO cannot handle anyway like melee). The Clans miss the Heavy Flamer and the IS misses the Light Active Probe e.g. Nothing substantial.
See here for details:

More and new weapons would require a full blown time-jump, and PGI probably does not have the resources to do so while they develop MW:5.
Sadly so...

Thunderbolts are completely separate launchers that are heavier but allocate their whole payload into a single missile for greater precision but greater AMS vulnerability compared to normal Lurms.

Anything else is nu-tech with sprinkles.

Magshots would fill another niche of having very lightweight (0.5 tons) ballistics focused on alpha strike hit-and-run fighting rather than continuous DPS with crit bonuses (MGs).

What the heck is a "Large LFE" as referenced in that thread?
And as for the IS Light Probe, I can't seem to find it listed as an IS piece of equipment in either SSW or MegaMekLab (the latter of which is very up to date).
EDIT: I found the IS LAP, it's only available for Battle Armor mounting and it's actually 0.25 tons instead of 0.5.

A LFE with a rating greater than 400. It might be a typo since the other large engines are from the Jihad.

I mean the IS Mech Light Active Probe, referenced on p.40 in the IO.
The IS Battle Armor LAP is referenced on p.51, under 'Battle Armor Tech'.
Those are two different pieces of equipment.

part of the weapons problem is the static way they set up their "dynamic" hardpoints means that an external weapons change results in a lot of time retrofitting mechs. dhey pretty much developed themselves into a corner there and have to apply workarounds to make it work. it was likely very expensive for them to do. and the results are less than ideal, you cant identify lasers based on the external geometry, nor can you differentiate things like an atm6 from an srm6 or an lrm 10/20 from an mrm 10/20.
now if you could introduce weapons that do not require retrofits or use existing models then you can make it work. like streak lrms wouldn't look too different from regular lrms. and lasers all use the same visual style anyway. so its entirely possible to do a retrofitless weapons pack.

where as most of it would be deemed useless. or bad. or unbalanced. or whatev.
players cant even get their heads around how to play anything else but nascar. would be a first step to imrpove.
no need for new weapons when there is nothing but nascar but some new shiney effects or so.

- Light ACs, less range but lighter
- Binary laser, IS hvy laser
- Blazer, Charge up laser
- Magshot, shotgun equivalent to MGs
- Light active probe for IS
- Armored components, extra structure/anti crit for weapons & equipment
- Heavy Ferro-fibrous, heavier version of FF that provides extra protection but takes up more slots
- HAGS, basically AC gauss

The Binary Laser is the Blazer...
The Blazer you refer to is actually the Bombast Laser.

The next unofficial Weapons patch. Would be from the Battletech book. Maximum Tech.
Keep in mind this a unofficial list not scheduled for release. Were Just giving you ideas of how the patch would look.
IS Weapons:
X-pulse
Hardened Armor
Reactive Armor
Laser-Reflective Armor
Light Autocannon
Heavy Flamers
Thunder Bolt Launcher (God cant save us!)
Grenade launcher (smoke burst)
Clan Weapons
ER Pulse
Streak LRM's (God Help us ALL!)
Also have different ammo types that would be worked in.
Like I said this is all unofficial written on a napkin stuff.

Right now we have a ton of options and tons of viable builds for mech chasis which is not something that could be said when I first started playing. Basically metamechs had one viable build for a given variant that for the most part was the only real option. Currently I have four perfectly viable and solid builds for my beloved Whammy 6R.
If you think about it, PGI has actually done a pretty decent job giving us flavour and options considering the limits they work within. Adding a bunch more stuff likely wouldn't bring us anything. I mean light ac's sound great in theory, but a four ton ac2 won't be a real option for light or lighter mediums at 40/45 tons and most likely would only turn out to be a worse option for heavier mechs like tne Jaeger or Rifleman.
Considering product cycle, the need to have another time jump for some of this stuff, issues such as psr, matchmaker and faction warfare needing revamp I can't see why PGI would want to spend time on this or again what this would really bring to gameplay outside of having even more dizzying options for making a mess out of mechs which is already too common.
