Might as well ride it till the end.... (if this is it!)

No reason to stress one way or the other haha, until the servers go dark!

Whoever believed that PGI could base their business on a single product without even holding the ip rights must be very young or very dumb.

Next game announcement was bound to happen. I just hope the new game appeals to someone and makes them money.

I once had a co-worker who blamed this and that for why he never got his work done. One day the boss came in and eliminated all those "obsticles" and guess what happened.... He still didn't get his work done... turns out, he was just horrible at his job.

Game time! You now own this bad boy, lets get up and run with it!!!

He does reference the uptick in feedback to the community which I have seen.... So far so good.....

Since it seems like it's going to be a space sim and will try to compete with some really big guns that are already working on that genre, I think it will rather cost them a lot of money, and where would those losses be recovered from I wonder... or actually I don't wonder at all.

Yeah but what can you do other than wish them luck, doesnt change the fact that they need another product.

It really doesnt matter what genre the game is, theres tons of "big guns" in every genre. Would we all be happier if it was a MOBA or a Dating Sim?

I am actually happy that it is SciFi too.

Actually I don't think they need another product at all. MWO is still able to get the whales buying, or else I doubt PGI would have chosen to stop the cooperation with IGP and handle everything themselves. They just need to finish a lot of the things that have been delayed for way too long to make this an actual complete game, which a lot of people have been waiting for. But I fully expect a big-ass cashgrab instead in the shape of clan pack 2, which will further alienate all the players that want more than pointless matches with no end goals whatsoever.

I do not approve of the fact that things that have been promised are still to be delivered and that MWO needs a lot of work on systems that are already implemented.

All i am saying is that you should never bet all your money on one horse. I was fully expecting them to announce another game sooner or later.

No, they still need it. The got the publishing rights from IGP. They still have to keep the licensing from Microsoft renewed annually or after however many years the contract stipulates. If Microsoft decides to pull the plug PGI needs another revenue stream to keep afloat.

I'm not convinced that the end is here just yet- although I do wonder... given their manpower issues (which I was told was in part due to their location being inconvenient to move to) how are they going to handle this?

I mean, if that was really a factor in certain positions remaining open to for so long, at the very least won't the new game have those same problems (no one to fill those particular slots, even if they can get other talented people to come)?

pretty much this.

they have stated that revenue streams, and most personel are separate. MWO money goes into MWO, this new thing, goes into the new thing, but if one franchise crumbles, and the other will still be there, it just makes business sense to keep them separate. if product A begins costing more money than it makes, and product B is doing well, why funnel funds from B into A?

not saying which is A and which is B, thats just more doomsaying and i've had enough of that. i for one see enough of this community sticking around to make MWO viable for a long time to come. thrive? undecided, but definitly will hang around. there are plenty of online games that are crap, cheap, thrown-together, and they make tons of money. This is a fantastic game, it just needs the finishing touches, and im tired of all they "well the promised us X" so what? why are you still here? go play something else for a while and check back in every month or so to see if they've added X, if not, keep moving. we don't need all the QQ

They should try and get the My Little Pony rights for a game or a rip off. Battle Ponies or something.

Theres a big *IF* that needs to be added to this statement.

*IF* the cause of Product A's lack of success is easily identifiable, then it makes sense to funnel some extra cash from the successful Product B to improve Product A to a level that it generates a solid revenue.
However, if its because the Product is fundamentally broken .. Then it needs to be scrapped and swept under the rug so they can put the money into creating a potentially more successful product.

War Thunder is good. MWO could learn a lot from it. I have a feeling MWO feels they are above such things though.

Along with the fact that they just recently got all the rights to the game from IGP and control MWO completely and there's really no downside for MWO or PGI...

...depending on the deal they made.

Honestly, I'm not sure what to say about most of the reactions I'm seeing to the idea of PGI working on another title. I used Babel Fish to translate moron to English to see if what they were saying made any sense, but I just discovered a way to make them look even dumber.
