Edit:- Few more questions.
I don't have Clan assaults, so the current Drop Ship sale has good options for me. I'm considering going for the hero variants of Ebon Jag, Supernova, Warhawk and Dire Wolf.
Would you consider going for Mad Kat dakka build on the Dire Wolf backed up with some LL in the hands? I know the mobility is bad on it but would it be a decent substitute?
As for Warhawk, is the Hero worth it or is the ERPPC quirks on the C variant just too good to ignore? I mean, I get it. Faster travel time on the weapon = Fantastic but is it something to worry about a lot?
The Boiler with dual UAC20s and SRMs as a pure brawler is what I was looking at. Is the Scorch better at this?
the only reason to get the ultraviolet is for the ability to do 8 AC2s. it wouldn't be my first recommendation for a new player, but it's definitely the strongest hero mech of the bunch and costs a lot of MC otherwise, so i'd say it's still worth picking up. one small annoyance though is that you have to run the build on a dire wolf A or prime for their extra CT armor if you want to optimize it as much as possible.
the warhawk prime is the one you want for the ERPPC build. the nanuq's main thing is its -20% UAC jam chance quirk, so you'd want to build it around that. again, this is probably one of the more worthwhile hero mechs out of that selection, so it wouldn't be a terrible choice.
the boiler can put out an incredible amount of damage very quickly. the scorch is a little easier to play, but the boiler is an absolute monster if you can work with the low mounts. i'd grab it for sure.
the only other particularly noteworthy hero mech available in this sale would be the revenant, which allows you to do laser vomit or 8x MPL, while swapping out the side torso pods for the MDD-C's, which get a whopping +25 armor.
