It felt like that being on the receiving end.

But running a warthog/king crab in an urban map later was fun. Can't beat twin AC20s at close range.

The King Crab is like a double **** punch. It definitely feels like cheating. I'll have to try the Devastator. Don't think I've hopped in it yet.

The devastator's pretty much the king of the battlefield on an open map, even in an urban setting it's a pretty tough cookie, but at least there's a surplus of cover there. :D

Good thing no Thunder Hawks should be around yet.

Had a great night playing with the 1st Robinson folks, always good to drop in some matches with them!

Devastator is one of those 'mechs you have to have an early eyeball on, and you really need to negate the power it can bring. Can be very hard because it hits like you're being slapped with an Overlord, but picking off the arms and/or using focus fire helps really take the thing out of the equation....assuming you can pull that off before dying (or they are denying you the ability to focus it.)

No kidding, and not for a good long while either. 3 Gauss Rifles to any location is just sick.

Even knocking the arms off still leaves it a tough contender as far as damage is concerned; thanks to its array of Medium Lasers and those side torso PPCs. Best way, if they keep XL = side torso kill, would be to go for one of those quickly.

I am curious if they'll have the -1D version running around.

hmmm, I don't remember any mention by the devs on how XL engines would work in the game, or even if there will actually be XL engines. To me it sounded like there would just be engine upgrades that cost extra c-bills and it would just be *poof* faster mech.

btw, what brings you to the skjaldborg thread Spork? you aren't trying to lure my lance mates into your shed are you? :P

http://mwomercs.com/...-devs-1-answer/

XL is in, so we should see a difference in being able to crit/kill a 'mech with one in the side torso's over ones not having XL being a bit harder to kill in that aspect.

I have a feeling they won't go with the side torso XL engine death, they said you have to take out the head, both legs, or the CT to get a kill somewhere. :P

Daishi can carry 3 gauss rifles so you could make a thunder hawk variant off that. Only problem is even though it was introduced in 2771 it was taken out of production around 2780 and not back till mid 3050s

You mean a Dire Wolf? lol And yeah, the Devastator gets even better with clan tech in it. If anyone has read the novels, a certain pilot named David McCarthy, whom piloted a Devastator with ERPPC's and ER Medium lasers... lol What a ride that is.

Only three? is that all the weaponry it can carry in that configuration?

I set the armor to a little below the RRC Atlas levels since thunder hawk has similar armor weapons 3 gauss and 4 medium lasers speed is 56 kph (supposed to be 54) and 10 heat sinks and weight came to 99.8 tons or something though I could probably skim the level down to 5 heat sinks since in MW4 I believe they are double not single.

here's the link for the Thunder Hawk

What's the draw back to XL engines then?
