So how come solaris city never shows up in factionplay?
Is it not in the rotation?
Or am I just unlucky?

I think it definitely needs to go into the rotation, problem is the map needs to have the DZ's built into it etc.
The map had a number of different ways it can be played where some of the other maps are rather static.
Lets hope one day it does.... The major issue is Incursion though, it's almost not big enough of a map to withstand a stupid base/SRM rush because the time it takes to get there doesn't allow defenders enough time to get a radar and adjust.

Really they should just remove the mode from FP rotation, problem solved.

incursion could be cool once a year like escort? rotfl and longtom and so on... speshul mishuns for the storyline driven content

while I'd like to see what we could do on this map with (halfway^^) organised play, it's also quite 'abusable'.
here's an easy example: wave1, one side picks 12 shadowcats/phoenixes/vapors/whatever, goes to the highest roofs and hides it out.
doesn't sound like fun for the other side, right?
it'd be enough for 1 pug to just hide a skirimish game out on top to turn it into a 25min search/waiting-contest. we all know there are a few of those people, perfectly fine with trolling 23 others.

otoh conquest sounds nice, domination could be really different.

it could work if the bases were more robust and you actually had to break stuff to get into them, and the turrets were not all of the 2-hit medium laser type. like tripple the wall segment hitpoints, and put ac20 turrets (also with more hitpoints) on either side of the entrances. of course make the bases too hard and people will basecamp, or you end up with skirmish. make destruction the main objective where you have a lot of things in the base you can destroy, it doesnt matter how many mechs you kill just that you have destroyed more stuff than the enemy did. and make the time somewhat shorter so its impossible to use your entire deck without being a total potato so that only base destruction matters (spending time destroying mechs will actually mean less score).
