Which would you take for a 2xLBX-20 + 3ERML build? Yeah, I know, not the most meta, but I run what I run.
Also, how do the two compare in general with their most meta builds?
Just looking for some ideas here. I'm heavily weighted in assaults to the IS. Figured I could do with a few more clan side.

I have the Bludgeon. It's quite sluggish despite being able to run at higher speeds. I don't know about other Warhammer IICs but if they're similar to the bludgeon, then you should know that they're CT magnets on top of being sluggish.
I have the Boiler running SRM6s and dual UAC20s. The Boiler boils but can burst out very good damage and can equip JJs. It is a big mech and easy to target but it can survive a push long enough to kill before it gets destroyed.

If you don't already own it, the Scorch is probably a better choice for running 2 x LB20-X on an Assault. It runs 4 x ASRM 6 alongside the LB-Xs in-lieu of lasers.

Don't own either but being in your place and deciding to run the build you mention, I'd go with the Whammy IIC with the main reason being slightly more agility and less restrictions with the engine cap.

The Broiler has the 2xuAC20 quirk. I'm taking advantage of that. If you want to run 2xLBX20 on an Clan assault, I'd go with the Direwolf and run LBX60 (2xLBX20 and 2xLBX10).

Clan side i actually like the super nova, it's my favorite clan assault. Second isn't really an assault, it's the EXE. It is pretty fun though. Makes a good ERPPC poptart, or a UAC10 with a boat load of energy weapons

I would wait for CBill release of the Warhammer-IIC, it's not worth MC.
The Boiler is MC only and it has +1 HSL on UAC20, I'd get it.

MCII Deathstrike with 2 x lbx20s and XL400. Needs some loving from the mobility tree still, but it's been pretty fun so far. Had a few 800+ damage games in a row. Little situational, but nice high arm mounts and hits hard. Probably room for less ammo and a couple of lasers, but that would ruin the 1.9 heat efficiency.

I do not own a supernova, but i can tell you enough about both of the mechs based on what ive seen in game (and i do own the hero paperhammer-IIc bludgeon or whatever its called).
The whammy2c is a TERRIBLE mech at short ranges. Its CT is huge, and none of the variants have enough agility to truly shield it between shots. The only thing ive been able to get out of that mech (and arguably one of few things you should even consider) is quad PPC, purely because it has JJs and you can combine minimal exposure times through liberal use of JJs, and long engagement range which further mitigates alot of fire purely because there are very few QP meta builds that can do anything serious to you past 800m since the only common (in QP) thing that can seriously hurt you at range is dual gauss (ERLLs are fairly rare to see in QP, and dakka isnt accurate enough at such ranges to focus components down).
Im not trying to tell you its bad, but the whammy is basically a portable weapons platrform with fairly solid tonnage allowance, but very little in the survivability department. If you bring a sub 600m loadout on it, expect to be cored early in the match (you can still do alot of damage, but its very unlikely you will live to the end). That chassis is really best served focusing on PPC, ERLL, and longer range ballistics like UAC10s or gauss which remain useful past brawl ranges.
The supernova is tankier (havier tonnage and somewhat better hitboxes that dont get you CTd the instant 2 mechs look at you), but it still has fairly easy to shoot off STs (especially easy to blow off when overtwisting). Its one weakness is low speed, but at least it has agility which is superior to many other mechs to make up for it. Its not a top pick for short range builds (and 90% of those in QP i see have LRM-80s/ATM-48s), but it can and will work with the build you suggested (albeit if im gonna brawl i prolly would dump the lasers entirely for SRMs).
As for alternative mechs that would do what you want, i have personally had alot of luck running the MAD2C-D. you can run 2 LBX20s in the arms along with a LPL in the ST and a ERML/MPL in the CT for a very similar performance to 3 ERMLs (honestly ill take a LPL over 2 ERMLs if tonnage isnt the concern since its better DPS range and burn times). The thing has ECM and goes 64.8 without skills and can easily brawl.

I run my blood asp prime with 2 lbx20 and 6 erml it seems to do pretty good.

Scorch and various Mad Cat IIs are better options for this build, or dakka in general.
