You can find a summary here:

https://www.reddit.c...date_with_russ/

Basically, Russ announced that MWO and mech packs are no longer sustaining PGI financially, and that MW5 is the future. Therefore, PGI is "committed" to fixing FP as much as it can over the next 3 to 5 months, but then everything essentially goes into maintenance mode with no new content. No new mech packs each month--only specialized mechs that fill a gap or are requested by the community, every so often. Everything hinges on MW5. If it succeeds, then MWO will survive for perhaps another three years. If not, then it's done.

And there may or may not be a Mechcon this year...it's too expensive, and the World Championship will no longer be held onsite in Vancouver, but conducted remotely (somehow) with winning teams logging in and playing from afar.

*With MechCon possibly canceled and no more new mech packs, MWO seems to be on the verge of collapse. The future will all depend on Mechwarrior 5. Will Mechwarrior 5 be able to save MWO in time? Find out next time on DragonBa....Mechwarrior Online!*

I appreciate the write up. Yeah that's really sad, I really love this game and battletech.

yep I said that 2years ago, folks you got about a year till this game is turned off.

bummer!! its gonna be super laggers and hack magic shooters

yo Russ people playing single player is BORING I don't think the hardcore folks that pre ordered MW5 are gonna be able to give you or your people some vacation time... you better make your new game with a multi player portion like MW3 that was cool or someone is fixen to get laid off (the bad laid not the fun toe curling laid)

Thanks for the summary notes.

Well, i wasn't expecting much, but still i'm rather sad than happy. Anyway, thanks for communicating the news, Russ.

Good news - more CW updates, months of them. Unless they meant one patch with months of delays Posted Image

Bad news - PGI escalates money saving mode, meaning they have almost no resources to develop MWO. Makes you wonder about quality of the upcoming CW updates. Sigh..., if only they realized this sooner, instead of wasting so much on Solaris.

About mechpacks and income - PGI, stop throwing MC left and right! Add some new decals, paint colours, increase XP bonus for premium time - most likely people will start buying MC again.
Make some more custom geometry, like different heads for the Atlas...

And about mandatory subscription - don't! Unless you mean it is a mercy killing for the game.

I said it a thousand times before and I'll say it again. If they were hard up for cash all they have to do is begin releasing voice packs, almost everyone who plays clan would purchase a new voice pack to replace the grumpy troll man, EZ money.

Looking forward to see if FP becomes worth playing again.

Lots of negativity going on in this thread, lol.

You realize they just abandoned the ship, right? Only thing they say they are "committed" to anything is so you dont walk away.

are you wondering?

this community in general was one whiney lump all damn time.
scattered in too many directions, never wanting to understand the opposition.
if things didnt go their way, full drama mode and ragequit.

all this narrow minded BS community wise for so long, all the major expectations no one could ever live up to (ye, i know that PGI made mistakes and so on and never lived up to their words either) lead to where we are now.

i never much cared where PGI was going with this, i was just going with it doing my thing ignoring meta, the min/max trash trying to tell me how the game should be played.

the community itself done everything in their might to help this ship sinking.
if its the hardcore lore guys, the elitist comp guys, the casual puggers.

you fought each other to the bone so hard that it was only a matter of time you killed your own fun.
you cant develop THIS game into one side alone and expecting it to be succesfull.

Pretty sure thats not a reason for any business to forsaken their enterprise. But ye, keep blaming the community. Money talks, people voted with their wallets, wonder what those, who told others to "leave the game when you dont like it" people will play next.

I can't possibly imagine why that would be.
