Pretty sure thats not a reason for any business to forsaken their enterprise. But ye, keep blaming the community. Money talks, people voted with their wallets, wonder what those, who told others to "leave the game when you dont like it" people will play next.

think about this: who will be satisfied if 2/3 of the community will be pissed after every change and vote no with their wallet because they are too damn entitled to their own anyway?

i blame pretty much everyone as i always do.

Funny to see that some people just can't realize that this game went on already for 7 years which clearly could not happen without the community and without pgi, that is a fact. 99% of other communities had less fortune with their beloved games. Actually this whole road was the best case scenario for this game and it is still running and i have fun playing it, so it is not over. It will still going for atleast 2-3 years, and if we will be lucky again maybe even longer. To blame anyone for a clear success makes me think some people just can't handle reality which is fine, but please do not blame others for that.

See you on the battlefield!

yep I said that 2years ago, folks you got about a year till this game is turned off.

bummer!! its gonna be super laggers and hack magic shooters

yo Russ people playing single player is BORING I don't think the hardcore folks that pre ordered MW5 are gonna be able to give you or your people some vacation time... you better make your new game with a multi player portion like MW3 that was cool or someone is fixen to get laid off (the bad laid not the fun toe curling laid)

I have been playing this game for 4 years and I have heard this dribble every year. And frankly there is no game or community out there like it, so it's basically the only game I play. I understand why these gaming companies are no longer announcing what's in updates or status updates. Gamers are arm-chair engineers, business people, marketers etc. Play the game and then get outside for a few hours sheesh. Wow the negativity in here is amazing - I read some quotes from Russ but that is not what I heard in the pod cast. So to the none knuckle draggers who have a positive MA. Don't take what you read in this forum as accurate. Negative people have special filters on their ears no matter how positive the message is they will spin it negatively. i.e. the above is a good example. And they will do ANYTHING to drag down everyone with them.

PGI didn't announce anything because they have nothing to announce. Mechpacks (the only content game had for last 2 years) will be released slower with Russ straight up asking people to buy them more. FP is dead after new update but Russ said they recieved positive feedback from God knows where. MechCon may not happen. No MWO updates or balance changes announced because again they have none. Please tell me where out of all of this is a single positive thing.

Other game developers don't treat their players like this, and their developer updates get praise and admiration. Maybe you should play some other games to understand what a miserable job Russ is doing.

You want to blame the toxic players and their negativity, but I blame YOU, and all the other yes-man they listen to, while dismissing any crticism as hateful trolling.

They ran a game based on one of the most beloved franchises into the ground. Mechs and Battletech keeps ppl around, not PGIs accomplishments (lol).

And to top it off, he's asking us to buy more mechpacks. Well I already got them all. See, I gave them money, y'all still defending them gave them sweet little lies about how great they are. Shame on you!

Edit: I see you're still Tier 2. Imma give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you really don't know what the T1 endgame is like. Maybe it will open your eyes as well.

Please, if anyone from Microsoft is listening, buy PGI, close it for good, port MWO to new engine...Thank you!
PS: Buy Russ a nice bottle of whiskey, it'll make him happy :P

are you wondering?

this community in general was one whiney lump all damn time.
scattered in too many directions, never wanting to understand the opposition.
if things didnt go their way, full drama mode and ragequit.

all this narrow minded BS community wise for so long, all the major expectations no one could ever live up to (ye, i know that PGI made mistakes and so on and never lived up to their words either) lead to where we are now.

i never much cared where PGI was going with this, i was just going with it doing my thing ignoring meta, the min/max trash trying to tell me how the game should be played.

the community itself done everything in their might to help this ship sinking.
if its the hardcore lore guys, the elitist comp guys, the casual puggers.

you fought each other to the bone so hard that it was only a matter of time you killed your own fun.
you cant develop THIS game into one side alone and expecting it to be succesfull.

Um no

The simple reason the game is being reduced is the lack of mechs to sell anymore.

Maybe 12 that anyone would actually buy.

Of those P.G.I probably won't make, half because while some crave them the other part of the community loathe them

The games not closed.

Even if it does go to maintence mode

Russ said

I hope to have the game still running to last 10 years.

so that is a potential three more years.

So it makes two. it's still two

That's nine years for a very small studio

That's a major achievement, no matter what people might think of P.G.I

It was never going to last forever

The Battle Tech franchise is very niche

If I didn't talk about it at work

NONE of the gaming community in my social circle would know of it.

Im' just glad this happened.

snip

well said mate.

at some point there is just nothing more to sell in mechpacks.
im just completely disappointed in the battletech community overall how they treated this game.
there should be sadness that it have come to this point.

we all know PGI's errors and it might be too late for them to fix that we im quite sure we as community (everyone included)
SHOULD have done so much better.

you dont see that much passion for a single franchise that much anymore. so much that we battled about the direction of how this should go rather than playing the game.
it driven this game for this long but might also kill it.

conclusion: just play this. dont care about comp, faction, casual, what ever you prefer to play.
if you want to keep mechwarrior alive at some point, we have to throw some stuff over board.

its not about toxic players this is what PC has done to online communities, if ya say something seemingly mean or rude to some thin skinned players the crying starts. man, its an internet game I cant put my hands on you don't be afraid of my packets you lagger! lol the Faction Play problems that's the squeaky wheels that wanted to change faction to what they wanted. also did that many people play on the test servers to justify all the changes(balance) to the game? I'm sure some of you guys might know the numbers. and I saw posts with peoples kdr wlr I wonder what that guy would have said about mine? lol go ahead mean guy tell me my numbers suck. im still gonna play so bite me Posted Image

First I found out that Star Citizen isn't going to be "The Next Freelancer" I thought it was going to be and now MWO is going to shut down in the future ?!

That's just great... :(

Let's say MWO does shutdown at some point : Are we going to be able to run our own servers for the game somehow ?!

Kind of like a Community driven PTS where all the mechs are free and everyone can run their own dedicated server for it :)

I would also like to mention that MWO has the most friendly players I have seen in any game so far over the past 20 years or so and that's also the reason that I really miss the "All Chat" at the moment : Many funny but also very usefull chats have taken place there! :D

We had hopes for improvements on CW.

The last patch had been a reduction of CW to another kind of Quickplay.

Now we hear that MWO might shut down when MW5 does not success and that there are NO plans to improve it.

I have 5 years of primium time.....I think I supported MWO enough to say that I had hopes for a better CW ..Not for that reduced CW delight version we have now.

Considering just playing MW5 mercs once its out. At least there there wont be any PVP with Epeen whiners, complaining about bracket builds and playstyles. And with coop only to spice it up.

Not to forget I will focus more one playing Battletech, things are looking very good. With admirable communications between the moddders, which gets praise from HBS for their work "holy ****, didnt think about that being possible!". HBS makes the foundation rules for Battletech, while modders fleshing it out. Just great.

I barely play MWO anymore. Getting punished for having fun your way, and the nascar, the ever frigging nascar. Also it dosent feel immersive. I call Mech Warrior 3 IMMERSIVE and thats a really old game I have never played, envying those who can. Mechs should feel weighty, even light mechs to some degree. Not snappy L33T COD mimick with mech suits. Sure the TTK is higher but still.

its so sad: i hoped for upgraded graphic Engine, for Mechs like Fire Falcon, Phantom, Crusader, Avatar, Hauptman and many others. I was desperatly looking forward for additional Weapons like the HAGs and MML, Omnimechs for IS,... . I looked forward for new Maps and other features like Clan Galaxy Decals. None of them will come Posted Image I got now several Years of Premium Time on Account, looks like i wont be able to spend it all. I bought many, many Mechpacks, sometimes the whole package because i wanted to support the Game, to support PGI. Now its clear: the game will die. I loved the Battletech Universe since many years and the announcement is a kick in the stomach. At the moment there is no other Mechgame out other than MWO. Hawken is also gone, but it never reached MWO. Anyway: thanks PGI for the game. Had a lot of fun over the years. Maybe you find a way for making Money out of this great Universe...

one word to the people who says "this community" was this and that:.
yea, some points are absolutly true, no doubt bout it BUT lets not forget that THIS Community was standing together as one as it was needed
THIS COMMUNITY made it even in the News for collecting over 100k Dollar for the canadian Cancer Aid Foundation. That was even in german News TV a message worth.THX for that to all involved
Yea many people in this Community, (especialy the ones who fonded from start omn) was after many lies and wrong decisions really p###d off becuase they all thought suporting the game would go in the direction they promised. Me included. But yea what happened happened,we cant turn time back, so s##t happens..
. I am still here after 7+years and after a year in hospital where i barely escaped the Grim reaper and , the first thing i did after coming home was patch and start to play again. No otehr game managed to hold me for such a long time and iam playing since the beginning of Videogames back in the early 80´s
So i really really hope this game will stay alive, even if i had to pay monthly that the servers stays switched on. I still love this game even if sometimes i wish i could grab some guys trough the monitor and ..ya you know Posted Image
