In division 2 of solaris i fought the same player twice now.
1st time -
when match began MWO immediately errored to the desktop.
I logged back in, match was still going to i rejoined....and immediately errored to desktop.
Rebooted, logged back in match was still going so rejoined and player was picking shots: my left leg, left arm and left torso were gone...but i still managed to step away from player and start firing.
This is when i noticed his mech would glide when moving (no leg movement).
I hit him CT 4 times and he died.

more than a dozen matches later with no issue

2nd match: same player
MWO immediately errored to desktop.
I logged back in, just as he was again gliding toward me: hit him three times CT and he died.

I might DC once in six months normally after a patch.
Never seen a mech glide before.

Is this hacking of some sort?

doubt it. PGIs game is known to crash.

Judging by the fact that he was "gliding" he probably had bad internet connection. Then, you were probably crashing because of the way solaris matches are organised not on one specific server (N. American, European or Oceanic).
