Add the ability for a dead player to take control of a DCed players mech. Like add a take control button and small icon in the living mechs view screen to click if they agree. this game DCs a metric ton of people everyday for one reason or another. even add a timer to it. Say if they dont return in the first 5 minutes of a match this is enabled.

I would be against this because there are a few ways to really troll the other person like suiciding them or causing team damage etc. But more importantly that I just don't think we'd get enough value for the time spent implementing this--a disco'd person might not even survive long enough for a teammate to die and take their mech over. Also while there are a lot of DCs, I don't see them literally every match. It's infrequent enough that it makes this use case less likely to come up.

No they would be disconnected, there is no name associated with a DCed mech. So it would have to be your own name it would be under so I dont ever see that being a valid point for against.
As far as the frequency, no not every match, but I counted today and out of 12 matches 8 had a Dced player in it. out of those 8. 6 matches would have ended differently.
as far as a DCed mech surviving. All of the matches today the DC mech was the last to die. Very RARELY have i ever seen it killed at the start of the match.

I play quit a bit so maybe I just see it more due to that, but I see it VERY frequently~! I can even say that it happens everyday without fail, just not every single match like you pointed out.
So i have to disagree with you about it being infrequent.

So if I re-connect then I will have lost control of the mech and it's yours now? And you earn additional matchscore / points for the damage you do in my mech? This would concern me both because the reconnecting person might want to be able to play. And it could create issues where a player is amassing a much larger amount of damage / matchscore than they normally could with just one mech. Or could coordinate to have one highly skilled pilot get an "extra life" at the expense of a "ringer" who intentionally DCs from the game. I'm seeing several possible abuses and other problems that this creates without being a solid win.

Basically for something that would take a long time to implement, this doesn't look like a solid win. (IE: I think people would complain about the cure at least as much as the complain about the problem it's addressing. I would rather we focus time on clear wins like QoL improvements on mechs that are sitting around collecting dust.)

After 5 minutes its safe to say your probably not coming back, Every instance I have personally witnessed this, if they can come back they do within the first few minutes. so yeah. And the button allowing the other player to agree to this would help keep it in check.
I can almost see your point about match score, but again what does match score do for you really? Increase your PSR to get you to a lower tier, not to downplay that but if you play enough you will end up a tier 1 anyways, AND if a person did die early on, they can probably use the practice.
