Thanx for the event. I like the weird weapon challenge. While I will probably suck at it, it'll make me step out of the box for a change. Maybe I'll just have fun, after all isn't that what video games are for?

The weapons in each category don't synergize so unless you want to gimp yourself, you wouldn't try to complete several sub-objectives of, say, IS ballistics, in one game. You'd combine IS AC20 and IS medium laser, IS LB10X + IS ERSL, Gauss + ERPPC (fired separately to avoid GH), RAC2 + LPL, UAC5 + Light PPC as an example. Some of these combos are still really awkward but that's the fastest way to finish them.

Second, the some of the worst weapons in the game are required for this challenge. 100 MC isn't worth taking Light PPCs and SSRM2s sorry.

To be fair, the SSRM2 component got me thinking of builds I wouldn't normally do. I whipped up a Stealth Hellspawn HSN-8E as a light hunter to double up on the SSRM2 and ERSL components, and I remembered the underwhelming 10% SSRM2 cooldown quirk the Blackjack BJ-2 came with so tried to use it along with a pair of Light PPCs to double up on those weapon challenges.

It says 'select hero mechs 50% off MC price' not every hero mech. I haven't logged into the game yet but I suspect the hero mechs on sale for 50% off their MC price are the Resistance Heroes, Clan Heroes, Clan Heroes II, and Clan IIC Heroes (and Solaris 7 heroes if they're in the MC store, but I forget whether you can buy them for MC separately).

The 'all heroes' comment is about their 30% c-bill buff being temporarily increased to a 50% c-bill buff during the event.

I have always liked playing sub par mechs, ranking good scores in them is so much more rewarding. There fore I really like these kinds of events where I'm given a set of weapons and have to build around them. Also good rewards and a hero sale, thanks PGI

AHA my favorite kind of challenges . Ripping up your mech spec approved robot of
mass destruction and stuffing sub optimal weapons systems into it all the while praying your
cbills can endure this trauma .

On a serious note, this is a great chance for non-owners to get the Solaris Pack: the price is unbeatable without the sale, so the sale almost removes any excuse (short of inability to pay for a luxury item).

Yes, the Solaris 7 Pack is a solid deal, and for $7 each (including a mech bay) the K-9, Grinner, and Purifier are inexpensive options that can perform well.

The event is cancer. Never seen so many absolutely useless builds.

This should be fun. Have a few drinks, then try to figure out exactly how many of those different IS Ballastics you can shove into a Slepnir at once. Should be bonus points for the build that can complete the most individual requirements at once.

While I get the response to this of: "People are making bad builds just for the event" the reality is that a certain percent of people will do that anyway. I've seen assaults with like 2 ER Large and an MRM, which is underwhelming. The event might slightly magnify this, but I doubt solid players will create terrible mechs just to get the achievements as inefficient builds will make it take longer.

But I actually like this event because you can either: ignore it and play how you want with what you want OR try out some different combos. Maybe playing something other than the exact same config will make the game more interesting. I know that I like to cycle between mechs when I play so it isn't just dakka match after dakka match. Mix in some brawlers or whatever.

Plus while it is fine to complain about stuff you don't like it seems that complaining about them offering a variety of events is silly. If every event was "Do 1000 ballistic OR missile OR energy damage" people would be like "These events are boring!" Events are an optional fun little added bonus. If you don't wanna do them or don't like the rewards that is cool. I don't play IS mechs so any event based around them won't be for me. That is my call. But complaining disincentives PGI to do them which seems the opposite of what we'd want.
