Odd that this thread should come up today, as I got got into closed beta just before my birthday (16th I think) in 2012 and my birthday is today so almost exactly 7 years.

I joined this forum on the day it went live at the beginning of November 2011. I would hazard a guess and say that my member number at 2805 is one of, if not the lowest still playing MWO. Although I haven't played much for a while now.

Number of games, not even going to hazard a guess as their are 2 archives, a several thousand in closed beta and a tonne of scouting and FP matches which don't count either.

How do you find out how many players were before you? Never bothered to look, even, TBH.

Go to your forum profile and look at the address bar. The number next to your name is your member number.

Mine is https://mwomercs.com...ser/2805-slide/ so 2805.

Thanks. Yeah... looks like 173127-bishop-steiner pretty crazy to think by the beginning of the Founders Packs there were 17k players (or at least registered Forum accts).

Ah well. Pretty sure my YLW is still serial# 000001 though, at I tell myself that so I can sleep better at night.. :P

Heh. BoomJagers. I remember when people were buthurt and whinging cuz "GaussCat OP!!!!".....

Ha, BoomYagers! They were awesome. People hated them (for good reason) but I loved having a boogeyman on the field. Like Lag-Streak-Ravens, pre HSR. Something to make you back up frantically after rounding a corner.

Man, all the phases. Some nostalgia there.

MORE NOSTALGIA probably not in order:

Jenner Bowling. DRAGON BOWLING.
The insanity of mechs falling over EVERYWHERE in spawn.
Invincible mechs while lying down.
Shooting at Atlas glowing eyes from spawn on the old Forest Colony
No weight based matchmaking. All Atlas teams in CB, lol
ANY of the various missile apocalypse phases when LRM damage was adjusted any more than +0.1 per missile
8 MPL XL400 Awesomes.
SynchDropping.
REPAIR AND REARM.
The old bobbing and weaving flightpath of SRMs (for all you whippersnappers, they'd spread then converge to pinpoint at various ranges)
The domination of the Gaussapault.
Paul getting Jenner-bowled into the twilight zone.
No more Jenner bowling.
SRM splash damage, and SplatCats - you could aim in the vacinity of the face and get insta-headshots from the splash damage alone.
SRM Awesomes and Stalkers.
LL Stalkers.
The Goonswarm.
LAGRAVENS. Squaaaaawk.
HSR, and the subsequent de-invincibility of light pilots.
BOOM-a-paults.
STREAK-a-paults.
Hexastalkers. lol.
BOOMYagers.
GHOST HEAT.
POPTARTING HIGHLANDERS.
POPTARTING CATAPHRACTS.
POPTARTING VICTORS.
MW4 COMP FLASHBACKS.
PPFLD AC5+PPC Domination.
De-synching of PPFLD AC5+PPC Domination.
POPTARTING SHAKE CHANGES
POPTARTERS COMPLAINING OF NAUSEA. Boo freaking hoo!
Fare thee well, Garth.
The CLANS. TTK falls... a lot.
GOLD MECHS.
TKing GOLD MECHS.
Total and complete Clan domination. Clanners arguing that there's no domination, despite a dramatic uptick in their KDR. "I just fit better in Clan mechs, I guess"
REDDIT DRAMA.
The BANWAVES. 70% reduction of toxic waste on the forums.
Kraeotoa. Thread?
Total clan domination before additional ghost heat limits.
Additional Ghost heat limits.
Total clan domination after additional ghost heat limits.
The long and brutal reign of the MadCat.
Artillery and other consumables.
QUIRKS.
IS god quirks - the Dakka Dragon, the Wolverine, the GridIron with machine gun Gauss, the Hunchback with machine gun LRM10's
Still MadCat domination.
MadCat mobility de-domination.
Kodiak domination!
Re-quirkenings.

I miss my LPL BlackJack.

Yeah, they were awesomely stupid, like the LRM80 Awesome with it's light mech armour, or the Boom Raven. The hexa stalker was pretty much a novelty, the quad was actually something more dangerous (back when 40 points of pinpoint damage was considered dangerous) because it was so much more sustainable.

Then there's the b33f sitting in the shadows somewhere in his Dire Whale Death Star.

Since October of 2012. Played heavily back then, now I take long breaks and then come back. I still enjoy the game for the most part, but it definitely isn't what it used to be.
