nah i doubt its conspiracy theory worthy. but im pretty sure those discussions have been about building mwo into an esports franchise and nothing more. ironically its the inability to draw and maintain a player base (typical gamers) that's going to end up killing it. pgi's problem is they wanted the fame/profit and never wanted to do the work.

How long have you been playing comp? what were formats for RHOD? MRBC? BOM? MOR? MWOWC? and some leagues that I don't remember.. how many of those were 12v12? I remember 8v8 6v6 and 4v4 formats.
So why should literally everyone else adapt to your 12v12? Hell if you think 12v12 is stupid awesome create a league and see how many teams sign.

The crowd you are attempting to appeal to does not give [Redacted] about whether or not you respect how competitive is laid out, because the layout has no direct connection with why being good at competitive earns respect in the first place.

What even makes you suspect that?
What changes have they made to the game to promote it as an e-sport?
Outside of hosting a yearly tournament for less than half of the game's life what have they done to forward an "esports agenda?"

because you need 2 things to make an esports franchise. a game, and pro players. well you also need an audiance, but pgi always forgets some important detail. i dont think this affects the rest of the game, other than consuming resources that could have been used to flesh out the game. with what the mwowc has consumed so far thats a couple maps or perhaps another newtech pass.
to be fair esports is a good relief valve that takes the pro players out of the mainstream rotation and puts them into training mode. this could have been good for the game if pgi could have made it pay for itself.
