Huntsman, Hunchie IIC, and Veagle sure aren't quirked for it but they can do CERPPCs very well.

Why would you expect someone who doesn't play to know which mechs get good usage out of a weapon without being quirked for them?

Both Clan and IS ERPPCs should have 4 second cooldown. Like I said, they're too hot to play well with other weapons, so building around them means they have to serve as standalone weapons. 20 pinpoint damage every 5 seconds is not enough. Like I said, you used to be able to drive a 2 cERPPC Clan mech and do real work. Now you can't. HPPC works because it has 50% more damage.

Then why do you care? Allow those of us who know how to use them get back to the 4 sec cooldown. If what you say is true, faster cooldown won't change much for you.

Yes, cooldown of hot weapons could be much lower overall.
Imagine having a very hot weapon such as the CERPPC or the cHLL with a cd of 1s (example).
Mechs with a single one would still have issues because of heat, but at least it would give them the possibility to fire them often.
Compared to a mech using multiples, who could fire them in sequence (lol) or alpha them together (too hot), it would at least give the low-hardpoint an edge.

Personally, I'm always struggling with this dilemma.
Either all weapons get very long cooldown (we would need to nerf some ACs and also missiles) or we give all weapons very short cooldown, but counter it with more heat (or just having high hps limiting dps).

As it stands now, if you have 2 PPCs, you are usually already hot after few seconds if firing on cd, so the faster cd really only gives an edge to single-PPC user (or mixed builds) or specialists like the Warhawk.

We should be able to add a capacitor like in lore maybe 1 ton? It can charge like the gauss. Let it reduce minimum range to 0 also.

Because Google, also Mech-Nav? If they're running their mouths fingers, they better know about it.

The Star League is NOT the Inner Sphere.

Yes, it is. The "Inner Sphere" is merely a region of space, it just happens to be the entirety of known space until the Clans came along and expanded upon what was "known space". The Star League was the dominant governing body of the Inner Sphere until its demise, whereupon the Inner Sphere became even more divided among the new successor states.

The fall of the Star League precipitated two things....the exodus of the SLDF, which became the clans, and the beginning of the Succession Wars. Following the fall, the "Clans" continued to develop existing technology, making it lighter lighter and more powerful. The Inner Sphere proceeded to bomb itself back into the stone age, to the point where much of the previous technology was no longer even understood. The Gauss Rifle falls into the same category.

Literally none of that is relevant to the point of the debate.

But, I suppose you're right. The Inner Sphere, with only a few years to reverse engineer Clan Weapons actually SHOULD be able to come up with better technology than people that spent centuries doing the same thing.

The ERPPC was not reverse-engineered from Clan-tech. It was IS tech that they recovered from their own Brian Caches.

The HPPC and SN-PPC are the results of reverse-engineering Clan tech.

And realistically, yes they should. The IS have far and away greater resources at their disposal than the Clans do and, once they got their hands on actual Clan Tech (which the IS ERPPC is not), they should have been able to not only duplicate it in short order but also improve directly on it. It makes no sense at all that the IS-produced equipment in 3140 is still as **** as it was in 3050. But that's just a hole in the fluff and this is a game, so simmer down with your dogma.

And that's why all IS weapons need to have their damage doubled, heat cut in half and no ghost heat. Clans should have their damage halved, heat doubled and no more than 2 of anything should be fired without a 150% ghost heat penalty....including MGs.

Projecting my dude.

As for "alternative options"....what alternatives do the Clans have? We've got the ERPPC and....well.....um.....yeah. Nope, that's pretty much our only PPC.

Do you know how to read?

The "Inner Sphere" as we're referring to is the area of space controlled not by the Star League, but by the ruling houses fighting over who gets to be the next ruler of the entirety...hence, Succession Wars. You know, that period of several hundred years where everyone in the Inner Sphere tried to bomb each other back to the stone age? The period where technology and production were eliminated until the Gray Death Legion discovered the Brian cache you mentioned?

During that time, the Clans actually improved on Star League designs. That's what happens when you don't lose the technology in the first place. The cERPPC was an improvement that added 50% to the total damage output of the Star League ERPPC (note that it was 15 points of damage, not this splash nonsense PGI came up with).

So far, in this thread, all I've seen is improvement suggestions to the IS line of PPCs. How to make them more powerful than the technology that's supposed to be better, lighter, have further range....all at the cost of additional heat. If that's the point, then I don't see why they don't just come out and ask to have the damage doubled, the heat halved and the Clan ERPPC be nerfed further than it already has been.

So...HPG communication technology devolving into a semi-religious order (IS) versus the ability to produce HPG stations (Clan) isn't representative of the technology disparity between the two factions. I see.

I've got a hunch we've read different source material.
