I have been playing since beta, and currently own 417 mechs. I have been supporting PGI all along because I enjoy playing MWO. I bought the MW5 preorder to continue funding MWO. Why? I love this community and the friends I have made over the years. I want to ensure MWO is here for years to come. Thank you.

I think my favorite part about it is

"hey thank you for showing your support and trust in us for that you get to be forced onto a subpar platform or you can go buy it again"

I mean wtf. if you were honest about supporting mods no way your not plugging it into steams workshop. by far after this exclusivity ends that will be the superior product to play. The **** part is you were not upfront about your plans and no deals like this do not happen over night

Epic obviously offered PGI more money than the Community Pre-order had brought in, massively so.

PGI was dead if MW5 bombed, and knowing them it will bomb spectacularly. I mean the game was due out in a month and a half and we haven't seen a glimpse of the "Mercenaries" part of the titles.

If Epic slid a check for several million across the table, that's more money than Russ has seen in a while. MWO has been operating in the red for ages, no? It was a **** move for us, but their years of incompetence and driving away the player base forced them into having to take the money.

- That a really good news! Personally I prefer launcher form PGI... but that also sounds good.

Which raises the super obvious question (sorry if it's already been asked in this long thread): why does this game need to be "published" on a store at all? If PGI made it exclusively available here through their own website, they could keep 95% of the revenue for themselves and keep community goodwill while they're at it. Anyone who's even a remote battletech/mechwarrior fan must surely have heard of MWO and this website by now. Games like Rise of Flight, World of Tanks, War Thunder and many MMOs have operated successfully from their own websites long before ever going to Steam.

Even Im totally against us Nordic countries be any part of EU but instead have a Nordic Union with free trade deals with us and EU instead. I cant say I can complain that EU exist as a buffer against harmful practices from other countries/ regions, like what Epics doing, gambling and such. And other nonsense in general from certain other... countries.

You all realize that you are just down loading the game from Epic's launcher, YOU DO NOT PLAY THE GAME ON EPIC !
Unless you are doing co-op and even that can be done without Epic using per to pre, Once you down load it you can close or uninstall Epic's launcher. The game is solo play and need no internet connection.

But what if the game has code that "phones home"? Posted Image

I've taken a stance of never pre-ordering a game.

I couldn't be happier with life.

Refunding my whale teir.

Seriously, not trusting epic with my credit card details given their track record with fortnite.
(I KNOW you will have expansions and DLCS. and I will be TEMPTED to buy it off epic. so I am nipping this in the bud now).

Sorry PGI, is just not working out. I will wait for it to come on steam when all the hype died down and I won't feel compelled to buy it at full price.

- Oh, I have some thought about that. Before all, games which you mentioned have their own game engine (at least 2 of them, and I'm sure about it). In second - PGI use UE4 (and I think not in stock version as it is, but with some really cost-full changes). So, to pay less they need to cooperate with EGS. Third part of that - support from developers of engine. Right from first hand in any occasions or troubles. It's can provide in future more stabile changes than it was on Cryengine (especially not latest version). All that drive to choose that unpopular decision. Only to make game better and give it a chance become top game based on Mech universe.
So, for company which can't develop own engine - that only way to pay less, do better and in same time catch the chance when EGS still young and can do great discount. When it become as strong as any other platforms - all changes to more tight terms of cooperation. So, all that make decision pretty logic for any who ever develop own game or work in game industry, especially in times when risks much higher then few years earlier (just look for another AAA games which got massive hit from players, haters and got less financial support just as).

- I can suggest make new credit card only for games, lock limit on it and refill it with money only when it need. It greatly rise your info safety and make possible to control finances. Like - "Oh I want that game, but before I need send few buck to my gaming card... whell... am I really want that game so badly?"

I just think it so funny to listen to all the crap about Epic when All the ones I mentioned do the same If not worse business practices. Are you all going to protest buying from them ? I mean Sony alone had a but load of user accounts stolen because they did not want to spend money on internet security. AND Knew this it could happen and did Nothing .And I don't think I need to remind you all about the other two They are Legends when it comes to that stuff.

Yah, but you can choose to not buy from playstation/sony... (just like how refunding means we don't want to deal with epic) just cause there is worst doesn't mean we have to swallow this ****.

Here's something to think about concerning Tencent, which has 40% ownership in Epic. Tencent also has ownership stake in the American motion picture industry, and apparently forced Paramount to remove the Japanese and Taiwanese flags from Maverick's leather jacket in the new Top Gun film. Just saying that there's precedent for political interference by Tencent in its financed projects, despite what Sweeney at Epic may claim.

Soooo...how would the Capellans play with Tencent and the Chinese government?

https://www.hollywoo...-jacket-1225993

Quote

"Suspicions have been heightened by the fact that Tencent Pictures, the film division of Chinese internet giant Tencent, is a co-financier of the new Top Gun movie. Tencent also is a part-owner of David Ellison's Skydance, which is co-producing the film with Paramount.

But even without the direct involvement of Chinese investors, Hollywood studios have for years avoided storylines, characters or even visual elements that could conceivably cause offense to either Beijing authorities or nationalistic segments of the Chinese audience."

If you are talking about land then probably those three, but if you are talking about economy and military then it would be US and China and then probably Russia (although there are probably smaller countries that have better economies than Russia).

- At least about possibility to sell MW5 in Epic was mentioned in December of 2018. And even earlier was some ideas about connection with Epic because of engine choose.

- 12% vs 30% and also -5% if developers use Epic Engine. That was mentioned in comments above. So, for PGI it's really nice. Also after year (testing and updating with support from UE4) game shows on others platforms. That also looks good.

at best its 20% on steam if the game makes over 50m, including community market, dlc, ect. So is 13% less profit worth it... and what ever truck load of money tencent epic promised

Wtf? So you're telling me I paid over $80 to get a finger up my ***? You're gonna make me wait to play the game on steam, as I was told I would get it there when I bought it, unless I install a client I don't want to by a company I don't support? Gee thanks. Glad the money was so worth it for you guys. How disappointing.

It is the weekend you are not likely to get a response on days that are not business days.
