Seriously, have they? Because Russ was acting all smug about only 6% refunding only a day after announcement. But I still haven't seen an e-mail informing me of the change. You have a freaking cut off date, but have yet to e-mail your customers that you've changed the terms by which they purchased the game?

And if you pre-ordered 6 months ago, you can only get a refund through paypal. So how many more people are going to miss that window? I dunno. Seems like mass e-mail should have been priority one.

If most do not read the forums... Unknown if PGI will do an actual email, or if they do it may not happen until August.. who knows...

Pgi could send an e-mail five minutes before the cut off date or what ever the window is and go "we did e-mail for refunds..." and technically get it done and go "well,no one did refund so more money to us."

PGI could have easily sent a mass email to everyone on the preorder list. It'd have been a five-minute "hey Intern, go do this thing on the way back from grabbing my coffee" job. They could have done that as soon as negotiations started with Epic for the deal; they could have done it the day the deal went through.

They did not, and have admitted they weren't planning to do so for several more weeks yet (by which time, the preorder refund window they've given would have only been a few days long).

That is worth considering if you're still on the fence about refunding.

Requested mine Thursday night and got my refund today. I paid through PayPal for my pre-order, so maybe my refund was easier.

An email to all those pre-ordered should be sent a notification of the platform change. It would be the honest and professional thing to do but this may be beyond those calling the shots at PGI.

FWIW, I imagine one reason they were going to wait was so they could deploy something more automated.

I imagine some poor person or people in tech support are having to do most of this manually.

It might take an hour at most. An hour to write the message, get the powers to approve it, scrape the list of MW5 accounts with outstanding pre-orders for email addresses to put into the "To" line, and then fire it off.

so only 6% of mw5 pre orders have lit their dumpsters on fire. that's still a ton of money down the toilet.

At worst, it's a piddly $144,000.

Sent my request the day after the AMA crap happened and Nope. Nothing so far. If they are not willing to comply with the requests, I might just call my card holder and report them for fraud and all.

Yeah they're pretty slow on that refund. But I mean an email notifying people that the terms of their pre-order has changed. How many people don't even know what's happening? Hell the Massivley article there was someone who was finding out for the first time through that. It's not like everyone has twitter or comes to the forums. But you NEED an email for the pre-order. And since the refund is time sensitive. This shouldn't be something they wait a week to mention to people.

With all the talk about it being the right move, the best choice for everyone on both sides, they really should be sending out emails to preorders because everyone who had preordered did so with the expectation of a Steam key.

Without an email going out you cannot expect everyone to be actively following the front page, and yet this choice affects everyone. They owe it to the backers to simply bring it up, especially with the time limited refund window. Either extend the window or actively reach out.
