I think PGI should definitely invest heavily into marketing MW5..

The WORST thing that can happen to the game is if it's only bought and played by old MW and BT fans..

PGI needs to attract NEW players, people who have never even heard about battletech or mechwarrior.. They need to draw these people in, and keep them in..

That is the ONLY way MW5 can succeed.

Namely you need to steal back the War Robots players.

Side note, any idea if that gundam is set in universal century or one of the other time lines?

(Only really interested in the UC timeline; out of all the "alternate" ones, it is the only one that mostly sticks to the real robot genre [as well as it can given whom makes the shows]. The other timelines slip off into super-robot territory on a whim at best or just straight up super robots at worse).

Gundam Battle Operations 2 appears to be based on the UC one. The game seems to focus namely on the team PvP.

Game logic simply has no room for 'unrealistic' capability.

Even if they were to introduce Gundams from the alternate universes into GBO2, they are only going to differ mostly as skins and stats, and they still have to get down and dirty.

Note that the game has melee, and pilot ejection. Pilots can fight on foot, and can also get killed getting stomped or from the blast effects.

I won't say that this is the best looking mech game, the graphics and artwork seems mediocre, and this isn't the same level as a Hideki Kojima, FromSoftware or Square Enix kind of work. But there is still a ton of Gundam fans out there, or people hungry for a different kind of shooter.

I think that handheld gamers are a quite different kind of gamers to the PC group. There are surely some overlaps but someone that has fun with playing a more simple game on the go is most likely not looking for a static, much more complex game.

When I think back, when I tried to introduce people to MWO, it was kinda ok until they saw the mechlab and ran. It was just to complex for most of the people. I think that might also be a reason why they reduced the mechlabs options so more people stick with a more simple system.
Just imagne to fiddle around with the MWO mechlab on you handheld device...or even the manage firinggroups in a fight. I don't see MW on handhelds without reducing everything to very simplified systems to make them work.
