PGI will never fix it, so is there a workaround?

I ran into it on an ACW-A when using the MWO Portal. It wasn't present using the steam client.
It was strange.. The mech was very, very slow to cool down when dropping in QP but had no issues when in the testing grounds and no issues when playing through Steam.

That's because it's a temporary issue that affects just one game. It's not tied to the way you launch MWO or anything. And of course your testing ground is not affected, because it doesn't happen on a server.

On your Arctic Wolf A, were you using any pods w/JJ on it?
When does heat normally drop slowly? When using JJ, running through lava...this can actually increase the heatbar.. what other times?
Ohh, when a mech loses a ST when equipped LFE or cXLE... essentially when a ST is lost, or believe to be lost a flag/switch is thrown for the 40% capacity/heat dissipation loss....

It was a fresh install of the client. The first map was Forest Colony, then Frozen city classic, and then Polar Highlands. The heat dissipation was the same for all of them. Just crazy slow. You could reach full heat, duck for cover and run around 300 meters to cool off and maybe be cooled enough to alpha once. No, no JJ, loss of torso, or heat sinks.
4 SRM6 and two double heat sinks, can't remember the engine but it's cooling efficiency is at 1.8. It's usually around a 4 count and it fully dissipates the heat from an alpha.
That's when I tried going to Caustic Valley in the training grounds and it was cooling normally. Then I launched the Steam client and had no issues, nor have had heat bug issues with Steam before. "knock on wood"...

Your installation has nothing to do with the issue. It's most likely that your client and the server are desynced when this happens ingame. Maybe packet loss or bad routing. Not much either side can fix, though.

Yesterday a major heat bug in tourmaline desert affected most player. It was like no heat dissipation at all. Can you please investigate this bug? thanks
