So, someone please tell me if I'm reading this right:

One kill, one TK, two solo kills. Did I just get a solo kill bonus for a team kill?

Yep that is how it works, with KMDD and savior kill as well. Not for kills, kill assist, and component destroyed.

Were I apt to be a flaming ***hat I'd consider nuking my buddies more often. You get good stuff for KMDD and Solo kills. Fortunately, I don't want to end up being "that guy."

You also get penalty and/or bans for excessive Teamdamage and Teamkills, which is less desirable. Noticed the solo TK issue somewhile back, had a good laugh, moved on.

I once bumped into a teammate at the start. That player then killed himself and I got a KMDD.
