What are the special "steam performance" mechs?

those are the pick a prize mechs... earn 150 loot bags, get a free mech back and (S) version mech that's identical to the champion loadout version of the same mech except for a different 30% bonus applied.

Oh, that elusive "Counter ECM" objective...

I've tagged ECM mechs, gotten "Counter ECM Locked Damage", I've tried countering with ECM, using active probes, and just countered a mech's ECM twice with PPC's, and still haven't gotten "Counter ECM". Wtf, lol.

Nevermind, lol. Got it with a UAV with an ECM mech next to me. :P

I got that, but where do they come from? Why are they called that? Do they have a unique paintjob like other (s) mechs and if so is there a way to see them?

These Mech's are from the "Steam Performance Bundles" light, resp. medium. They have the Champion loadout, a 30% CBill-Bonus and a hotrod pattern. Other than that, they don't differ from their respective CBill-variants.

Suits me, free stuff challenges are always a gain
And the (s) variants as grand prize, certainly better than picking from things you can buy.
I narrowly missed out on the medium pack (steam) when they updated to Solaris 7
So the shadowcat (s) will round out my collection.
Didn’t think I’d ever complete that task, but hey here’s an opportunity

Actually they don't have the hot rod pattern included as prizes for this event. The pattern unlock was something included in the steam performance packs (phracken was year 1 packs, hot rod in year 2 packs) seperate from the two mechs. The $13 mech bundle being offered in the trick or treat sales with the standard variants of the mechs we got as early adopter rewards for MW5 does come with the phracken pattern unlock for all four mech models.

Are you 100% sure about that, Dee? Can't check right right now, but later today. But I'm of the impression the (S) variants have a permanent pattern like the hero mechs have.

Well they DID include the pattern unlocks in the steam packs... i have four different king crabs in phracken for that reason. As to permanent pattern/color attached to the (S) mechs I do not recall right now as its been so long since i even used the mechs let alone looked at their camo.

both Phases (should) have 12 days of completion time.

Well 25,000 score would take twice longer then 25,000 damage...

So as long as the 25,000 score event is in the first phase, it works out.

Nevermind. I assumed that the event would last for more than 2 weeks.

So it would appear we both had some truth here. Yes, the Steam Performance Packs came with Phranken, resp. Hotrod camo chassis unlocks (your truth), but the Phranken resp. Hotrod camo is also the default camo of the (S) mechs (my truth). So, the prizes come with a camo that is not standard, but special. Of course, they do not unlock the camo for other chassis' of their kind.

Of course that's assuming they remember to permattach the camo pattern and colors to those mechs now that steam performance packs no longer exist when they inject them into your account from pick a prize. We might just get green mechs with the (C) replaced by an (S).

I honestly really like this event! I can't see myself getting to 150 loot bags, but I much prefer the structure of this to the previous loot bag reward system. Hopefully we aren't inundated with LRM damage farmers, but there's always ECM/AMS for that.

SINCE event started less than 22 hours ago, I am at 8,335 accumulated match points. I should have zero problem hitting my 100 loot bags on each account before phase 2 begins. So far its been minimal MC payouts and the "various values" of gsp has been 1, or 1, or 1, or 1, or 1, etc...

Question to Matt: If someone purchases a bundle on the gift store (meaning a gift code which can be given away), does the redeemer of the gift code get the bonus loot bags if redeemed during the event?

My unit is running an event tomorrow, and I may pick up the GSP bundle as a give-away for the event, esp. if they will get the bonus loot bags when they redeem the code.

yes, redeemers of gift codes gain all the benefits of said code, including qualifying for the loyalty rewards program element(s) that that gift code might relate to. GSP bundles count the same as MC purchases so free hero / loyalty light mech.
