I want to plea that my tier rating is coupled to my Jarls' rating. This way I can be confident playing with peers that understand playing the game the way I do. Programming wise that must be not dificult to do. Easy peasy. It will also give me the incentive to improve myself. Right now the tier tier system is static, whereas It should be dynamic.
And if you do so, PGI, that will improve playabillity and user compliance A lot.
If this sets me back in tier, then the better for me ( and the rest I believe).
Mech warriors, if you agree, reply to this post.

Inatu out.

p.s. I understood since the last mechcon 2018 your intentions were to better listen to the community. Don' t let MWO die.

p.p.s there are arguments the playerbase is to small. Concerning there are still a couple of thousands players left I believe that argument has no value, and never will.

P.S. stands for post script. So it would be p.p.s and not p.s.s.

It doesn't matter to me because I believe there are still enough "real tiers" to compete each other. The total number of players suggest this (Jarls' about 26.000...they are not all tier 5).
Again, PGI made this promise to listen to the community.

You are aware that things are in maintenance mode and thus aside from minor tweaks to things like FP we aren't getting new stuff, right?

the game started in 2013

lol

Current active players: 26,351
Current retired players: 249,475

25,000 players yeah... ok...

pgi only cares about mw5. Mwo is dead jim. No necromancer short of releasing the source code into the public can save this dead rotting corpse from decaying any further. pgi doesn't give a f and neither should you.

There are less than 500 concurrent players. Why do you feel these few can be segregated into workable buckets?

Wut?

For one, steam charts are not an accurate representation of the games population. Steam doesn't show players who don't use it, or don't use steam to launch the game.

I don't launch the game through steam, and I play regularly.

Jarls list is the most accurate measure; it literally uses public stats pulled directly from the API. The time between seasons and now is a big enough sample to make your performance from before that time irrelevant. You're just butthurt because yours are bad so you go straight tinfoil about it. I'm sure your legacy stats, which are a much smaller sample, are probably just as bad.

You do know that those players dont have the exact time schedule in their life like you? That there are different time zones? Thus restricting the MM will lead to more time needed to find your given criterias? Concluding to the more people the easier for the MM.

Almost like a flatearther... As long as PGI cant raise interest in the game and the playerbase grows, there is absolutely nothing you can do to improve MM.

How do you compare steam charts and Jarl's? Steam shows peak and average players online simultaneously, Jarl's shows how many unique player names have played 15+? quick play matches in a month.
And yes Steam charts only shows people who play MWO through Steam.

PGI has moved on.... MW5 may or may not work, but, in either case, MWO is about done. I'm not playing MW5 till it is reviewed and some time has passed.

In the end, this game was fun ! But, this game is a great teaching tool for future game developers and is used to do just that.... To illustrate "just how fragile" extreme niche markets are and can be..... And, most importantly, "what not to do" in a very fluid market...... The phrase "you reap what you sow" is the bottom line in many cases of game failure.... And, that concept is very hard to teach brilliant and driven game designers............they think they are always right.......till the bottom drops out.....

Actually you don' t need the matchmaker. You can use LFG to organize a time on a weekly basis and hook up. We did this with Steelbeasts on friday nights European time. FYI the playerbase was/is even smaller than MWO; an extreme niche market. Dedicated people to be sure. Boy, did we have fun ! But there are dedicated people here as well. I don' t see the problem.

Why? Your comments give the impression of a widespread anti-Steam movement. Steam is ubiquitous. If you ever redeemed a Humble Bundle or software title from a videocard purchase it was most likely was in the form of a Steam code. If the software is present why not use it? I hope your computer is likewise free of Uplay or Origin.

The stand alone client does not auto-update. I enjoy that feature. Why is use of Steam onerous for you?

Why?

I use Steam to maintain the game, but not to launch it.

Steam is a bloated eyesore, even worse with the new library update. If I don't have to use it to launch a game I won't.
