DONT DO IT!!! they will try to make you feel worthless for not being good as them on A FK'n VIDEO GAME lol
The point isn't to make anyone feel worthless. On the contrary.
Pretending they're some kind of badass/expert/authority when public evidence shows the opposite? Whether it's deliberate lies or an actual delusional belief (the latter being WAY more common), it speaks of a lack of self-confidence.
Unfortunately, it not just terrible for their image in the community - nobody likes self-aggrandizing liars - but also,
worse, prevents them from honestly evaluating their own performance - and therefore from actually improving.
"I'm an expert player, it's my team that's the problem"
"I'm good, it's this mech I play that prevents me from doing well"
"I'm better than anyone else on this team, it's the enemy team's fault that their lights ganked my assault while I was solo capping in Zimbabwe"
All self-serving excuses absolving oneself of any responsibility for their abysmal performance.
Do you know how competitive players do this? They don't sling blame, they analyze
the **** out of the match:
"What in this strategy went right? What went wrong?"
"What ultimately won/lost us the match? What are the counterplays to that?"
"What individual mistakes were made? How do we guard against them?"
All ultimately in the service of one question: "How can we do this better next time?"
Anyone who stops asking himself this and assumes his gameplay is above reproach and beyond any improvement is refusing to grow both as a player and as a person.
And that's ******* terrible.
